At Stable Friendships, we believe in meeting each unique friend where they are. That’s why we don’t just stick to one therapy method—we mix and match techniques to create a joyful, transformative experience tailored to every child’s needs.

From PROMPT therapy, helping our friends confidently say “go” to guide their horse, to boosting oral motor skills during walking breaks, every moment is an opportunity to build confidence and skills.

It’s not just therapy-it’s progress that feels like play. Because here, what starts at the hips ends at the lips, and where movement meets motivation

This moment is easy to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking at.

What you’re seeing here is the body responding to movement input in real time.

Not random. Not uncontrolled.

It’s the body taking in sensory information and beginning to organize around it.

These responses give us important information about how the nervous system is working—what it’s receiving, how it’s adapting, and where support is needed.

What makes this unique is the environment.
Working with horses naturally provides rich, multi-sensory input—movement, rhythm, touch, and connection—all happening at once.

That’s what allows the body to respond in a way that feels more organic, not forced.

At Stable Friendships, this is what we’re creating space for experiences where the body can take in, process, and respond in real time.

This is what multi-sensory treatment can look like.

Matias reminds us why this work matters.

Week by week, we’ve watched him grow more confident, more regulated, and more willing to trust both himself and the world around him.

Horses have a way of creating a space where children feel supported—not rushed, not pressured, just met exactly where they are.

As his family shared:
“He has gained so much confidence. He is less impulsive and feels supported by the horse, his therapist, and the assistants. He truly loves going to his sessions—it makes him shine.”

Moments like this are why we do what we do. When horses, therapists, volunteers, and families come together, incredible things happen.

Today is Rare Disease Day 💜

The world hears diagnoses.
Our horses see who you are.

In the stable,
You are trusted.
You are known.
You are loved.

If you live with a rare disease, you are more than a label. Always.

In our paddock, you are not your label.
You are part of the herd. 🤍

Science just confirmed what horse people have always known.

Those of us who work with horses already know it. We see it in the way a child’s shoulders drop the moment they step into the barn. We feel it in the quiet that settles over a session. Now science is catching up.

Two peer-reviewed studies have found measurable changes in the brains of neurodivergent children during and after equine interaction — calmer brainwaves, quieter neural networks, a shift from anxiety toward engagement.

This is what Stable Friendships Foundation is built on. Not just a feeling. A foundation.

Even our equine partners pause.

They don’t wait until they collapse.

They don’t earn it.

They simply listen to their bodies.

Zee knows when the sun is warm and the moment is quiet.

She takes it.

Parents. Caregivers. The strong friends.

You are allowed to do the same ❤️

At Stable Friendships Foundation, love shows up in quiet moments between a child and a horse.

It looks like confidence growing.
It feels like peace after a hard day.
It sounds like laughter in the barn.

Families tell us:
“He has gained so much confidence and truly shines in his sessions.”
“The horses bring him peace and tranquility through a strong emotional bond.”

This Valentine’s Day, thank you for being part of a love story that changes lives.❤️

Horses don’t experience interactions in isolation.
They carry history in their bodies.

Research continues to show that familiarity, consistency, and relationship length matter.

Horses with positive, long-term human partnerships tend to show less stress, more curiosity, and greater ease when facing something new.

That doesn’t mean pressure never works.
It means too much pressure removes choice—and choice is where safety lives.

At Stable Friendships, we’re intentional about who handles our horses, how often, and why. Familiar relationships aren’t just better for our clients—they’re part of how we care for our horses’ nervous systems, too.

Safety is built over time.
For humans. For horses. For the relationship between them.

Snow days mean fewer two-legged friends around the farm,
but the ponies are keeping themselves busy.
Rolling, relaxing, and enjoying a little winter freedom. ❄️🐴
