Homesharing is a affordable alternative to traditional medical model nursing and boarding homes while at the same time providing true "aging in place"

No matter how hard everyone tries, sometimes staying at home is no longer possible. Even when possible, being home alone may not be the most beneficial place to stay. Homeshare, Inc. has developed settings that are as much like home as possible, but offer the supportive services an elderly person might need to achieve their maximum wellness and aging in place. created the Homestead at Cushing and the Homestead at Owls Head, shared living residences licensed for food and lodging. Residents of the Homesteads lease rooms at a daily rate based on the size and type of room. $80-$130 per day

Rent includes the following:
-Bedroom, including furnishings, if desired.
-Suites include living room area.
-Bathroom facilities, some private, plus access to handicapped shower.
-Access to common areas of the house, including dining room, living rooms, and yard.
-Yard maintenance, including lawn mowing and snow removal.
-Trash removal.
-Property taxes and insurance.
-Food and beverages, including all meals and snacks.
-Supplies, including toiletries, such as soap, shampoo, tissues, etc; cleaning supplies, linens.
-Cleaning/chambermaid service.
-Call system.
-Maintenance and repairs.
-Appliance/equipment repair, maintenance and replacement. provides no personal or nursing services. Residents contract for these services on an individual basis.

In recognition of the escalating cost of home care and the desire of elders to age in place in home-like settings, the homesharing model was developed as an alternative to expensive home care and equally expensive medical, institutional settings. The Homesteads at Cushing and Owls Head rent rooms to individuals who desire this accommodation. Home health care is provided, when needed, by ASK… for Home Care, a licensed home health care provider, or other individuals or providers, including services that may be covered by insurance. Not only do the Homesteads provide short term accommodations as respite for family caregivers (by the hour, day, or month), but they also provide long-term accommodations (by the month) for individuals who want to live in a supportive setting, where they can age in place successfully.
