South Windham Fire Department 100% Volunteer Fire Department that's been serving South Windham and surrounding communities for 100 years.

The South Windham Fire Department is a 100% volunteer fire department providing Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue, Haz-Mat response, and service calls. We operate 4 emergency vehicles a 1997 Freightliner E-One Engine, 2020 Pierce Dash Engine, 2008 Ford Horton rescue truck and 2009 Ford FireMatic brush truck. We also operate a John Deer Gator for brush fires and off road rescue as well as a V hull boat for water emergencies.

SNOW PARKING BAN

Public Works has announced a Snow Parking Ban for Willimantic, in effect today (Friday), December 26 from 5:00 PM through Saturday, December 27 at 5:00 PM.

To avoid recieving a parking ticket and getting your vehicle towed, please remove all vehicles from the roadways and use alternative parking. All municipal parking lots, including the parking garage, are available.

Vehicles need to be removed from the street to allow Public Works crews to safely plow roads and keep them clear for travel.

..WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut, central, eastern,
northeastern, and western Massachusetts, and northern Rhode Island.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
