It is Wisdom Wednesday! Be a seasoned meditator, who lives with intention to contribute to the highest good for all beings. Wisdom is a side benefit. This gift is not rooted simply in intellectually pursuits. “The Four Noble Truths for Daily Life”

Many people think the Four Noble Truths are deep teachings meant only for study. But actually, they are happening in our daily life, again and again.

When something doesn’t go our way, we feel tightness, disappointment, or stress. This is the truth of suffering. Not just big pain, but small irritation, restlessness, even subtle dissatisfaction. If we are honest, we can see this clearly.

Then, if we look a little deeper, we notice something else. That suffering didn’t come from outside alone. It came from wanting things to be different. Wanting people to behave in a certain way. Wanting situations to match our expectations. This craving, this holding on, is the cause.

But there are moments when the mind lets go. Even briefly. When we stop pushing, stop resisting, stop clinging. In that moment, there is peace. That is the end of suffering, not somewhere far away, but something we can taste right here.

And how do we reach that? Not by force, but by training. Being mindful in speech, careful in action, steady in attention. Gradually understanding the mind. This is the path.

From experience, it becomes very simple: When we cling, we suffer. When we understand and let go, we are free.

So this teaching is not something to believe. It is something to observe within ourselves, patiently and honestly.

This time of year we can restore kidneys, bladder, bones. A time for going within, meditation, and lots of rest. It’s Wisdom Wednesday! Mindfulness is the enemy of compartmentalization in the mind. Compartmentalization, a pseudo solution for dealing with stress, represents lack of integration in the psyche. It is here that the past gets buried and leaks out in our thoughts and actions inappropriately. Beginning small, without judgment, by “acknowledging and calmly accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations…mindfulness is used as a therapeutic technique.” Pg. 47 Treasure Maps to Meditation.

As a people who live mindfully, we are able to feel our anger arise and view it as observers, giving us pause that prevents anger reactivity. The seasoning of mindfulness turns ungrounded anger, a short circuit, into fuel— fuel for advocacy, setting boundaries, and higher purpose. “Mindfulness is used as a therapeutic technique.”
