I didn’t think taking a vacation alone with my kids could possibly be relaxing… but then we started cruising.
This past cruise was actually the first time I ever sailed alone with just me and the kids.
No partner.
No extra set of hands.
No backup.
And to my complete surprise…
it was one of the most relaxing, peaceful, genuinely happy vacations I’ve ever had.
I went into it expecting to be “on” 24/7 — because let’s be honest, family vacations can feel like parenting in a prettier location. 😂🌴
But cruising changed everything for us.
✨ The kids clubs were incredible.
They had fun, made friends, and had their own adventures — which meant I got quiet moments to breathe, read, or sit in the sun without being needed every second.
✨ There were nonstop family-friendly activities.
Shows, games, waterslides, arcades, sports courts — the fun came so easily. No planning. No mental load.
✨ The service made me feel supported instead of overwhelmed.
Room stewards who learned our names.
Dining staff who remembered what my kids liked.
Crew members who genuinely cared.
It was the first trip where I didn’t feel like I had to manage everything myself.
✨ We got time together and time apart.
That balance?
That’s what made the trip feel like healing.
We connected, laughed, explored… and I still got to rest.
I honestly didn’t think a single-mom vacation could feel restorative — but cruising with my kids proved me wrong in the best way.
