✨It’s Mission Spotlight Monday! ✨

Today we’re spotlighting Team Neuro, who will head to Ghana in April 2026 to provide free complex neurosurgical care to patients in need. This will be the team's third trip to Holy Family Hospital in Techiman, Ghana, where they are working on setting up the first neurosurgery center in the region. In 2025, Team Neuro performed 30 complex neurosurgery cases for patients who otherwise would not have received care.

Day 1 complete! Team Manhattan screened more than 200 patients during their first day in Laos. The team will begin surgery tomorrow, with a full schedule for the week of dozens of operations. 💙

Operation International’s first mission of 2026 has begun! Team Manhattan has made it to Pakse, Laos, where they will deliver excellent, patient-centered head and neck/craniofacial surgical care to underserved populations with limited resources.

An equally important goal is the education and training of local medical staff through hands-on collaboration, knowledge exchange, and material donations to promote sustainable improvements in local healthcare delivery.

Today we’re spotlighting Team Indiana Hearts, who will head on their inaugural mission trip to Kenya in April. The team, led by Christine Rullo, PA and Dr. Amjad Syed, will provide life-saving cardiac surgery to patients who otherwise would not have access to this essential care.

This will mark their sixth mission with Operation International. ✨It’s Mission Spotlight Monday! ✨
Today we’re spotlighting Team Cleft Repair, who will travel to Laos in March to provide dental and reconstructive surgery for children with cleft lip, palate, and other facial deformities. This is the team's second visit to Houaphanh Province to provide life-changing cleft surgeries in one of the most underserved and impoverished regions of Laos. Last year, they completed 60 life-changing procedures in the country.

Happy ! In honor of Operation International turning 30 this year, we’re sharing some photos from its early days. 💙

In 1996, OI was founded by Medhat Allam, MD; Ravi Kothuru, MD; and Robert Mineo, CRNA with the simple aspiration to offer free medical care to those in need. Since then, it has grown to include more than 20 chapters and hundreds of volunteers. For some reflections on this milestone from Medhat, you can check out our January blog post (link in bio).
