This preschool AAC user has been showing amazing growth with consistent weekly speech therapy. When kids have regular opportunities to practice using their AAC device in meaningful, play-based sessions, communication skills start to build—one word, one request, one interaction at a time.

AAC gives children a voice while their speech develops, and with the right support, their confidence and communication can truly take off. We love celebrating these moments that show just how powerful consistency can be!

At Moore Pediatric Therapy, our SLPs meet kids where they are and help them build functional communication skills that carry over into everyday life.

At Moore Pediatric Therapy, we believe books are one of the most powerful tools we can use in speech therapy. While Read Across America Day celebrates the joy of reading each year, in our therapy rooms reading happens all year long.

Our speech therapists often use literacy units built around a book or story theme. This allows us to target multiple speech and language skills in a fun, meaningful way. During a literacy unit, children may work on:

📖 Building vocabulary through new story words
🗣 Practicing speech sounds within the story
💬 Improving sentence structure and conversation
🧠 Strengthening comprehension and answering questions
🎭 Retelling and acting out parts of the story

Using books keeps therapy engaging, predictable, and language-rich, while helping kids build skills that carry over into the classroom and everyday life.

Sometime As a pediatric SLP, you set up a challenging task like dumping out 3 different puzzles in a pile with the plan that the child will need to ask for help. Then the child breezes through independently using the problem solving, organizing, and planning skills he has developed in Occupational Therapy. The activity didn’t go as you planned but who could be upset at such a BIG personal win!🏆
