Flourishing Roots Therapy LLC Individual therapy allows for the opportunity of growth between client and therapist. We are a guide on your journey to thrive.

We use a combination of CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing and trauma informed care. Flourishing Roots Therapy LLC was created out of a growing need for supporting those going through various medical treatments and procedures including Cancer, autoimmune diseases and various other medical issues. The founder Floren Schertzer had cancer as a young adult and with lived experience finds it a necessity to give back to the community and clients with ways to cope and even thrive through illness. We provide empowerment, support and symptom reduction of the mental health needs of our clients at an outpatient level of care.

Sometimes great things come out of ways to increase workflow in business. We all need hobbies and things we can do to break up downtime. Find what sparks your interest and run with it. If you have a tendency to get really into something really quickly then drop it, take a class or get some supplies on your local buy nothing group. Give it a try, start something new today.

Inflamation can have strong effects on the body. We are not aware of this happening all the time, however some may know this as discomfort or even pain. Long term stress and traumatic events and create inflammation and and pain. We can combat this by reducing inflammation with balanced nutrition, body movement or exercise and socialization.

Welcome!

I am a passionate social worker, believing in a person-centered approach to therapy. I have spent over a decade as a volunteer firefighter and am Firefighter 1, CPR, and First Aid Certified. My hobbies include cooking, hiking, photography, reading, and giving back to the community. I have experience from interning at a nursing home, family service agency and Yale New Haven Hospital emergency department. I have co-facilitated a caregiver support group for families struggling with end of life care, Alzheimer’s, and Dementia. My previous employment includes working as an ACT team family social worker at Queens Hospital Center, and as a Methadone Counselor at Connecticut Counseling Center. I volunteered for several years at Ann’s Place, a cancer support center in Danbury, CT and co-facilitated a young adult cancer survivor support group for a year. I am now hold an LCSW licence in Connecticut and New York State.
