“Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

Boles Funeral Home Associate, Sammy Gilmore, was presented a quilt by members of the Sandhills Quilts of Valor today at the Veterans Day Service at Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst.

Sammy joined the Army on August 2, 1967, riding on a bus from Carthage to Fort Bragg for basic training. He was eventually stationed in Vietnam. Before ending his service in 1969, he was awarded the Army Accommodation Medal for Valor, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and various other Vietnam Campaign Ribbons.

We thank Sammy and all veterans in Moore County and beyond for the years of sacrifice and service that protects America and the freedom we hold so dear.

Our Story

Our Story Boles Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. was founded in 1984 by James L. Boles, Jr. Boles takes great pride in being independently owned and family operated. The mission of Boles Funeral Homes and Crematory is to give families the most caring, complete, and professional services in their time of loss. Our desire is to assist in the recognition of the value of a life lived and to facilitate meaningful ways for the family and community to celebrate the memory of their loved one. Our entire staff is committed to providing this level of service to all families that we are privileged to serve. Boles Funeral Homes began with the first funeral home location in Southern Pines, North Carolina. As our communities have grown, we have grown along with them. In addition to our professional services, we feel that having the choice of a funeral home conveniently located to you is another way that we can better accommodate our families. We have six funeral home locations in Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Seven Lakes, Red Springs, Rowland and Sanford. We also own and operate Longleaf Crematory on our premises at our Southern Pines location. If you have made arrangements or prepaid with another funeral home we can easily assist with the transfer of those services and benefits on your behalf to be used at any of the Boles Funeral Homes locations. It is our great privilege to be a part of these communities and to be given the opportunity to serve you. You will find that we are dedicated in our service to you both before and beyond the day of the funeral. Pet Loss Good Shepherd Pet Crematory and Cemetery understands the deep loss of your family pet. We can assist you in making decisions regarding the peaceful placement of your pet’s remains. You may make arrangements by phoning our office or by personal visit. Our cemetery is conveniently located on Highway 211 in West End between Pinehurst and Seven Lakes. We are available on a 24 hour emergency basis for removal of your pet. You may also instruct your veterinarian to call us for removal. We have agreements with most area veterinary hospitals. We urge you to consider prearrangements. Although no one likes to think about the inevitable, the time will come when the family pet departs. Dealing with the arrangements in a period of calm assures you time to consider the options for your pet. All pets entrusted to The Good Shepherd Crematory and Cemetery are handled with the care, dignity and respect they deserve. www.goodshepherdpetcrematory.com
