Meet Courtney ✨

We’re so excited to welcome Courtney to the SAMA community.

Courtney began her yoga journey in 2023, bringing with her a background rooted in movement, grace, and awareness. With subtle influences from ballet, her teaching style carries a fluid, intentional rhythm—inviting you to move with both strength and softness.

Her classes are thoughtfully designed to guide you into deeper connection with your breath, while creating space for ease, elegance, and presence within each posture. Expect a practice that feels both grounding and refined—where alignment meets artistry.

You can now flow with Courtney on Wednesday evenings at 5:45pm for SAMA Flow—a class that offers the perfect midweek reset to reconnect, move, and come back to center.

Come meet her on the mat 🤍

April feels like expansion at SAMA 🌿

What’s been quietly building is starting to rise—and this month, we’re leaning into that. Rooting down through practice so we can grow with clarity, strength, and intention.

We’re welcoming new teachers, celebrating our YTT group as they near completion, opening enrollment for our Yin training, and stepping back into nature for our outdoor series.

So much to be a part of this season 🤍
Come grow with us.

Meet Mary Elizabeth 🤍
200 classes at SAMA… what a milestone!!! Thank you for being such a meaningful part of SAMA and sharing your practice with us We see you!!! We celebrate you!!!! And we’re so honored to be part of your journey!!! 🤍

Let’s hear what she has to say about it…. 👇👇👇

“Attending 200 classes at SAMA is a milestone I’m really proud of. It demonstrates that I have consistently shown up for myself and intentionally committed to improving my health. Joining this studio is the best thing I have done since moving to Southern Pines just over a year ago! I am physically stronger and have noticed improved mental clarity and focus as well.

What keeps me coming back is that I know I am always in great hands with the exceptionally knowledgeable teachers who are able to make yoga accessible for everyone. While rehabbing multiple injuries this has been particularly important for me as I often show up to the mat needing modifications.

Equally significant is that SAMA Studio has cultivated a warm and welcoming community that feels personally inviting. Recently I attended a class and realized that I knew the names of all of the students in the room, which is meaningful to me as a new resident. It provides a sense of belonging and accountability because I don’t want to miss out on connecting with new friends before class! I show up for myself and leave feeling energized but balanced every single time. I am looking forward to my next 200 classes at SAMA!”

We ❤️

💫Locally sourced beeswax
from the USA.
They choose “cappings” for their sweeter scent and better burn, as well as to leave the energy-intensive comb intact for bees to reuse!
💫Clean scents.
Their Beeswax Botanica line is scented with essential oils and botanicals; Aromática uses clean, phthalate-free fragrance in a vegan coconut-based wax for serious scent throw.
💫All cotton wicks.
They carefully match to each candle for the best flame and longest life.

when things feel heavy…
pause.

not everything is meant to be pushed through.
not every moment asks for strength.

sometimes the practice is to soften—
to lower down,
to fold inward,
to let the ground hold you.

learning how to be still is a practice.
learning how to pause… and truly listen.

find a moment to be quiet enough
to hear what’s underneath it all.

what is your body asking for?
what feels supportive, nourishing, steady?

move toward that.
even in the smallest way.

you don’t have to carry it all at once.
you just have to begin by tuning in & listening.

Welcome to Flight Club—where going upside down meets play in a supportive and educational environment!

Each week inside Flight Club, we break things down so you can build up—layer by layer, skill by skill:

Week 1 — Strength + Conditioning
Build the foundation. We develop the raw strength, stability, and control your practice needs to grow.

Week 2 — Alignment + Balance
Refine your awareness. Dial in the details that create lightness, efficiency, and steadiness.

Week 3 — Entry + Precision
Slow it down. Learn how to enter shapes with intention, control, and clarity.

Week 4 — Shapes + Skills
This is where it comes together. Explore arm balances, inversions, and transitions with confidence and curiosity.

This is not about “getting it perfect.”
It’s about showing up, trying, falling, learning—and surprising yourself along the way.

All levels welcome. Just bring your willingness to play.

This Yin Yoga Continuing Education training is designed to deepen teachers’ understanding of the history, purpose, and methodology of Yin Yoga, while building the skills needed to confidently and safely offer yin classes.
Through both discussion and experiential practice, teachers will explore the philosophical and energetic foundations of yin, including the concept of yin and yang, and how yin yoga supports the body, mind, and nervous system. Emphasis will be placed on skillful sequencing, intentional use of time, and creating a supportive environment that allows students to experience the deeper benefits of a yin practice.

Teachers will learn how yin postures influence the body’s energetic channels, known as meridians, and how to apply this understanding within a physical practice. The training will also focus on clear teaching methodology, effective use of props, and holding space in a way that encourages presence, safety, and inner awareness.

Training Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will:
Understand the origins and history of Yin Yoga and the energetic concept of yin
Learn the foundational principles of yin teaching methodology
Be introduced to the meridian system and how it is applied within a yin practice
Explore a variety of yin postures and learn how to skillfully use props to support students in each pose
Develop tools for holding space and creating an environment that supports stillness, introspection, and nervous system regulation
Gain confidence in supporting students’ physical, energetic, and emotional experiences during a yin practice

YTT Weekend Recap: 9

This weekend in Yoga Teacher Training at SAMA focused on teaching application and self-inquiry. Trainees stepped into the role of teacher through practical exercises designed to strengthen direct cueing, observation of students, and the skillful use of props and modifications. These sessions help bridge the gap between understanding yoga and learning how to effectively guide others through it.

We also introduced the concept of ahamkara—the sense of “I” or the constructed identity that shapes how we see ourselves and move through the world. Through discussion and meditation, trainees began exploring how awareness of the ego can support more authentic teaching and deeper personal practice.

The weekend closed with a reflective meditation practice, inviting trainees to observe the voice of identity and return to the steadier place beneath it.

Discover a more personalized approach to your wellbeing through the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda. This two-part series is designed to help you understand your unique constitution and learn practical tools to support balance in your everyday life — on and off the mat.
PART 1: FINDING BALANCE WITH AYURVEDA
90–Minute Interactive Workshop: March 29: 11am
Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, teaches us that true wellness comes from living in alignment with our individual nature. In this immersive workshop, you’ll explore the foundations of Ayurveda and gain insight into your own mind–body constitution (dosha). Together we’ll discuss simple, sustainable practices that can support digestion, energy, sleep, stress resilience, and overall vitality as we move into the spring season.
Expect a warm, engaging environment with guided reflection, practical lifestyle tools, and space for questions and discussion. You’ll leave with personalized takeaways you can begin implementing immediately.
Perfect for anyone seeking:
• More balance and consistency in daily life
• Tools to support stress, digestion, and energy
• A deeper understanding of yoga beyond the mat
• Seasonal reset as we transition into spring

PART 2: AYURVEDIC FLOW + INTEGRATION
75–Minute Practice | Offered Two Weeks Later: April 12: 11am
Return to the mat to embody what you’ve learned. This thoughtfully guided 75–minute practice is designed to integrate Ayurvedic principles through movement, breathwork, and rest. Expect a balanced flow that includes grounding, gentle strengthening, mobility, and restorative elements tailored to support nervous system regulation and seasonal alignment.
This class stands beautifully on its own, but for workshop participants, it offers an opportunity to deepen understanding through experience and practice the tools discussed in Part 1.
Workshop attendees receive a special discounted rate for this integration class.

HOW TO ATTEND
This series is designed to be experienced together or separately.
Attend the workshop to learn. Return for the practice to embody.
Move toward spring feeling more aligned, informed, and balanced — the Ayurvedic way.
