A letter to our community from David Techner:
To Our Community:
It is with love and appreciation that I share with you a decision I have made about the future of my role at The Ira Kaufman Chapel.
The Chapel has been a part of my life for 58 years - since I was 14 – and it will continue to be, just in a different way. I am pleased to take on the new role of Funeral Director Emeritus at the Chapel.
I plan to still often be in the office, as an owner of the Chapel, and nearby for funerals. But I have reached the point when I no longer wish to be the primary contact for arrangements. My plan is for my seven grandchildren, three of whom don’t live nearby, to see me more often.
We have been planning for this for more than a decade. Josh Tobias and I have enjoyed a longtime partnership that will allow for a seamless transition for our community. There will be no changes to how we serve families because of the commitment to consistency that Josh and I have shared for many years.
There are so many members of our community I could thank for my day-to-day career that has been so fulfilling for so long, but I want to start with Ilene, whose support has been unwavering since I first met her dad, Herb Kaufman, and her grandfather, Ira Kaufman, in 1965. I also thank our staff of professionals at the Chapel who consistently live up to the highest levels of service and compassion.
Serving this community has been the best possible way I could have spent the past decades and I will always cherish the trust that families have placed in me to help them in their times of need. This is truly an amazing place to live, work and raise a family.
For arrangements now, please work directly with Josh, as many of you have for many years, as well as our colleagues. The Chapel has never used an answering service and someone is always available to talk to you via (248) 596-0020.
