Hello All,
I hope that this message finds you and your family in continued good health. Thank you for patiently staying with me as I navigate this through this journey of the unknown COVID-19 viral pandemic.
On May 21, 2020, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-97 called the “Safeguards to protect Michigan’s workers from COVID-19.” It created an enforceable set of workplace standards applicable to all Michigan businesses. In accordance with this order, the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has taken proactive steps to ensure that all licensed professionals implement infection control practices and protocols to protect their employees and patients.
Based on the Governor’s most recent comments, July 4th appears to be the set date for massage parlors to reopen. TrueTouch Massage Therapy (TTMT) has created a new practice of protocols that seem most appropriate for us as we move forward with the reopening of the office for business. Over the past three months, TTMT has been in tireless pursuit of information that would allow me to continue serving in a responsible and professional manner without sacrificing the health and care of our clients.
Please note:
1. Safety is an important element of your therapy and as such there is a “new” normal in our office.
2. Face masks must be utilized by the therapist and the client in treatment rooms to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. No exceptions.
3. Stringent sanitation protocols between each client with use of an EPA-certified disinfectants on all surfaces, doorknobs, chairs, etc., is critical.
4. Change all linens, fleece blankets, and the use of protective clothes covering by the therapist between each client.
5. Use gloves when necessary.
6. Stagger client appointments or text them when they can come in so there is no more than one client at a time in common areas. We need to make sure there is ample time to prepare for, and take care of, each client and my work area.
7. Be transparent. Have you had a fever of 100°F or above in the last 24 hours? Do you now or have you recently had any respiratory or flu-like symptoms, sore throat, or shortness of breath? In the last 14 days, have you been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or other Coronavirus-type symptoms? If so, please reschedule without penalty.
