Sometimes finding a forever home starts with a phone call. 💙

During a file review, one of our Adoption Resource Consultants (ARC) began searching for family connections for a youth in foster care. After reaching out to several relatives, an aunt in Indiana responded, having no idea her niece needed a home.

Phone calls turned into video chats, and visits helped rebuild a family bond that had been missing for years. By Thanksgiving, everyone was ready for this youth to make the move to Indiana.

Today, she’s thriving! During a December virtual visit, she proudly showed off her new room and shared how excited she was to spend Christmas with family.

Her adoption is now in progress, and expected to be finalized in May 2026. Orchards continues to support her and her family every step of the way.

This is the power of family connections!
Help us celebrate this journey by dropping a 💙 in the comments!

Because of YOU, the holidays were a little brighter and a lot more joyful for the children and families we serve.
Thank you to every sponsor who gave through our Sponsor a Family program and Toy Drive for Orchards. Your generosity provided more than gifts; you gave smiles, hope, and the feeling of being remembered and cared for. We are so grateful to have a community that shows up with such compassion and love.
From all of us at Orchards, and the children and families you blessed, thank you for making the holidays magical! ❤️🎁

About Us

A little more than fifty years ago Orchards Children’s services was established by the Greater Detroit Section of the National Council of Jewish Women. The founders recognized the need to improve the lives of children. This small, courageous group of women dared to question how things had been done. They believed that practices of the past were insufficient. They dared to challenge the status quo and begin something new. The founders of the Orchards looked back and plotted a course to move forward. It is doubtful that even those remarkable people who had the vision and courage to develop a new course could have foreseen the Orchards Children’s services of today.
