Please join us in welcoming our newest board member! We are excited to welcome Risha Ring to our board of directors at Orchards Children’s Services.

Risha has dedicated her life and career to education and the well-being of children. After retiring as a school administrator, she deepened her commitment to service, taking on leadership roles across numerous organizations. Her experience includes serving as president of her synagogue, past president of the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan, a board member of NCJW|MI and BBYO’s Adult Board, president of the Westchester Village HOA, vice president of the Board at Summit Academy North, and as a consultant with Central Michigan University’s Educational Program Review team. She holds a Bachelor of Science, two Master of Arts degrees in Curriculum and Educational Administration, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Risha brings with her an incredible depth of knowledge, leadership, and passion for strengthening communities and supporting youth; values that strongly align with our mission. Beyond her professional and volunteer accomplishments, Risha treasures time with her two grandsons and enjoys visiting her daughter in Brooklyn.

A heartfelt thank you to Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) for generously opening their doors to us!

We’re so grateful for the opportunity to host a foster care and adoption informational lunch-and-learn in your space, and for inviting your staff to be part of this important conversation. Partnerships like this help us reach more compassionate individuals who can make a lasting difference in the lives of children and youth.

About Us

A little more than fifty years ago Orchards Children’s services was established by the Greater Detroit Section of the National Council of Jewish Women. The founders recognized the need to improve the lives of children. This small, courageous group of women dared to question how things had been done. They believed that practices of the past were insufficient. They dared to challenge the status quo and begin something new. The founders of the Orchards looked back and plotted a course to move forward. It is doubtful that even those remarkable people who had the vision and courage to develop a new course could have foreseen the Orchards Children’s services of today.
