“Self-love is not comfort,” she continued. “It’s not confidence. It’s not manicured peace. It’s the ability to stay loyal to yourself when your old patterns start begging for you to come back.”
She turned to the board and tapped the pyramid.
“Because we learned early that belonging comes with conditions,” Traci continued. “That love is earned. That being needed is the closest thing to being safe. And attachment wounds make it worse, because when you grew up with inconsistency, your nervous system confuses chaos with connection.”
Keischa felt her chest tighten as if her body recognized itself in the room.

Keischa has mastered survival but survival is no longer enough.
In I Close My Eyes to Breathe, we take the journey with her as she confronts the quiet patterns shaping her relationships: chasing inconsistent love, over-functioning in connection, mistaking anxiety for chemistry, and shrinking to preserve belonging.
Through therapy sessions, sisterhood rupture and repair, devastating yet necessary goodbyes, and the grounding framework of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and attachment theory, Keischa begins to understand the real question beneath every heartbreak:
Why do I do what I do?

I Close My Eyes to Breathe is for the ones who have carried it all — the weight, the worry, the world — and kept moving anyway. It’s for the women who give and give until there’s nothing left, yet are learning how to turn that same love inward. It’s for those who’ve been told to always b...

As a clinician I talk women through this daily. Because the words manipulator, narcissist, bipolar are tossed around in spaces like eating chips they don't hold the weight they should as a diagnosis of mental health. Women, you have to start trusting what you know, using your intuition and stop ignoring things that don't make sense to you. Call me let's move you past where you are still hurting. Listen if you really understood these characteristics (because it takes years of training and degrees, not Google, a certificate or IG) to recognize and be qualified to diagnose you would know it could've gotten alot worse. See ya on the couch. Y'all be safe out here.
