If you are a man and diagnosed with low T, please ask for a work up before starting T therapy.

Common reasons to have low T
1. High prolactin in the blood due to pituitary tumor
2. Iron storage issue such as hemochromatosis
3. Obesity
4. Narcotic pain medication
5 pituitary tumor that is not secreting prolactin.

Treatment of above conditions will result in improvement of T level.

Also please aim for age matched mid level instead of over 800 ng/ml since it can result in significant side effects .

MIND diet - if you can prevent dementia please read on!

Mediterranean- DASH Diet Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay diet.

Main idea
Focused on 10 brain friendly food categories, especially vegetables, berries, whole grains, nuts, olive oil and small amounts of poultry and fish while limiting foods high in saturated fats, trans fats, and added sugars, butter and margarine, cheese, red meat, fried food, pastries and sweets.

They saw the volunteers with the highest MIND diet scores had brains with cognitive abilities of a person 7.5 years younger than those with lowest score.

It is very good news for all of us!

Brain makes up 2 percent of our body weight but this hungry organ consumes 20 percent of our calories.

It is so important what we eat!

The MIND diet, a combination of the Mediterranean and DASH diets, slowed cognitive decline over 10 years, a new study found.

When you have a large cystic nodule in the thyroid gland, before considering surgery, consier Ethanol ablation (EA).
This simple procedure will reduce the nodule volume up to 90 % and it usually is permanent in reducing the volume of a cystic nodule.
I performed a procedure in this patient in Jan 2023 and in 4 weeks her nodule volume shrank by 77%.
Pressure symptom is gone and cosmetic concern also is gone.
Procedure took about 10 minutes in office vs. surgery (you will lose half of your thyroid out and you will likely end up on thyroid medication for the rest of your life).

Public safety announcement

1. Bioidentical is a business word not a medical word. Infact FDA approved HRT is BODY identical same as what your ovaries make.
2. Benefits of HRT in rightly chosen patients far outweigh the risks.
3. Estrogen decreases breast cancer risk.
4. Alcohol doubles the breast cancer risk
5. Compounded HRT including pellets when investigated have different contents in 35 percent of cases whereas FDA approved more affordable medication contained exactly what the ingredient list said it contained.

Reaffirming metabolic memory that was discovered in DCCT and UKPDS. In patients who were just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I highly recommend going on continuous glucose monitoring (CGMs) early in the course so you can achieve lifelong better glycemic control.

This graph shows the top no sensor, middle (no sensor then a sensor after 2.5 years of no sensor) then sensor initiated at the time of diagnosis.
Patients who got on CGM (sensor) after 2.5 years or so never achieve quite glycemic control that the early CGM adoptors were able to achieve.

Metabolic memory is real and repeatedly shown in many clinical trials.

First patient gains insulin independence with NOVEL Stem Cell derived islet cell therapy.

A man with long standing type 1 diabetes and no insulin producing function achieved insulin INDEPENDENCE after a SINGLE infusion of an investigational stem cell derived pancreatic islet therapy.

Fantastic news for clients with type 1 diabetes. Such a demoralizing condition. I respect all of my clients with type 1 diabetes.
Hopefully more widely available soon and better not be 1 million dollar per treatment!
