I know that the time left with my boy on this earth could very well come to an end in the not so distant future…

so I’m soaking up every second I can while I have it.

I always dreamed of a life where I could bring Axle to work with me every day…

I just didn’t know how to make it happen.

Fast forward to now. That dream has become a reality.

It seems like such a small thing.

But to me it means everything.

At 36, I’m not just trying to “stay in shape”—

I’m training to move better than I did a decade ago.

Stronger.
Quicker.
More explosive.
More capable.

The goal isn’t just looking fit—
it’s being able to run, jump, sprint, and move like an athlete.

Because those skills aren’t optional.

They’re what keep you powerful, resilient, and confident in your body.

And when you train for performance—not just maintenance—
the results show up everywhere. 💥

Yardwork doesn't count as exercise. Let me explain.

Before you come for me — I'm not saying yardwork isn't good for you. Getting outside, moving your body, working with your hands — that's great for your mind, your mood, and your soul. It absolutely counts as physical activity.

But it cannot replace intentional cardiovascular and resistance training. And a lot of people are living under the illusion that it can.

Here's why they're not the same thing:

Intentional cardiovascular training — think zone 2 walking, cycling, or jogging at a sustainable pace — directly strengthens your heart muscle, improves your VO2 max, lowers resting heart rate, reduces inflammation, improves insulin sensitivity, and builds the aerobic base that protects you from chronic disease. Yardwork gets your heart rate up — but inconsistently, briefly, and not at the sustained effort level needed to produce those adaptations.

Resistance training — progressive, loaded, intentional strength work — builds muscle mass, increases bone density, improves joint stability, boosts metabolism, and is one of the most powerful tools we have for longevity and pain prevention. Carrying bags of mulch is not progressive overload. Your body adapts to yardwork almost immediately and stops being challenged by it.

The problem isn't that people do yardwork. The problem is that they check a mental box that says "I was active today" and use it to justify skipping the stuff that actually produces long term health adaptations.

You can do both. You should do both. But one cannot replace the other.

Do your yardwork. Enjoy it. And then go train.

Beautiful afternoon hike with my boy.

You’re seeing a highlight… not where she started.

When Mary first came in, the goal was simple:
👉 just get through the day with less pain

Now?

✔️ Pain is minimal
✔️ Back to playing pickleball with friends
✔️ Squatting 135 x 5
✔️ Deadlifting over 200 lbs
✔️ Hopping, moving, and working toward jogging again

That’s what real progress looks like.

Not quick fixes.
Not shortcuts.
Just consistent work, the right plan, and building capacity step by step.

Most people only see the end result—
but this is months of showing up, adjusting, and earning it.

And we’re not done yet. 💪

🚫 Before you grab the lacrosse ball for your chest… read this

That pinpoint “tightness” near your sternum?
It’s not always a muscle begging to be smashed.

In a lot of cases, it’s irritated nerves along the chest wall—
and more pressure = more irritation.

So instead of going harder… go smarter 👇

✅ Try this approach:
• Lightly pinch the skin and hunt for a tender spot
• Gently roll the tissue between your fingers (1–2 min)
• Add a small side-to-side glide with your fingers
• Then move your arm while keeping that skin contact

This isn’t about force.
It’s about improving how the tissue moves and feels.

Less aggression. More intention.

💡 Sometimes the thing you’ve been doing more of… is the thing holding you back.

Save this for the next time your chest feels “tight.”

Your hip pain might not be a hip problem.

And that’s exactly why nothing you’ve tried is working.

You’ve probably:
– Stretched it
– Foam rolled it
– Done banded exercises

…and it still comes back.

Because you’re treating the symptom…not the source

A lot of the time, what shows up as “hip pain” is actually coming from somewhere else in the chain (like your knee or low back)

So no amount of random exercises will fix it.

You need to know:

What’s actually driving it

If you want help figuring that out…

Apply for a free discovery visit and we’ll map it out for you.

Skepticism isn’t a red flag. It’s a green one.

If you’ve been let down by provider after provider and you’re not sure whether anything can actually fix your back — that makes complete sense.

You’ve tried the things you were supposed to try.

You’ve put in the effort. You deserve to be skeptical.

But in my experience, the patients who ask the hardest questions, who need to understand the why before they commit, who have been burned enough times to have their guard up — those are the ones who go all in when they finally find the right fit.

They do the work. They show up. They get the results.

If that sounds like you — I’d love to talk.

Lifting with family is so much more fun. 💪🏽

“This is one of the most common myths we see with knee arthritis…”

We’ve worked with people who have severe ‘bone-on-bone’ findings on imaging…
and they’re moving with surprisingly manageable pain.

And we’ve also seen the opposite—
mild findings on an X-ray, but daily, frustrating pain.

If damage alone caused pain… that wouldn’t happen.

👉 Pain isn’t just about what your knee looks like
👉 It’s about what your knee can handle

Load tolerance. Strength. Confidence. Movement capacity.

That’s the real story.

Imaging can give us information—
but it doesn’t decide your future.

If you’ve ever been told your knee is “worn out”…
there’s a lot more to it than that.

Scroll through our page—we break this down in a way that might completely change how you see your knee. 💡

Look, I get it…

Everyone claims they have the magical stretch or exercise to finally fix your back, but the reality is most of these “quick fixes” are too good to be true.

Back pain is complex.

And complex problems usually required complex and nuanced solutions.

If you want detailed insight into the way we think about addressing low back pain for good here at MVMT Rx, download our free guide.
