Double-tap if you think emergency care shouldn't be far from home. Good news, we think so too! The ER at North Valleys, an extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, will be our system's fourth freestanding emergency department and bring a higher level of care to the North Valleys community in January 2026.

In the same manner as a hospital emergency department, the ER at North Valleys will treat a variety of emergency medical needs upon opening, including stabilizing heart attacks and stroke, lacerations, acute pain and other life-threatening conditions. The facility will operate 24/7 and treat all ages from pediatrics to seniors. Stay tuned for an official open date. 🚑

It's no secret - living with diabetes or even helping a loved one manage their diabetes can be challenging. We're here to lighten the load. is Nov. 2 -8 and we're using this time to help raise awareness. Here are three simple things you can do, if you know someone with :

🔹 Help plan healthful meals that won't spike their blood sugar
🔹 Make physical activity a shared experience by suggesting an after-dinner walk
🔹 Encourage good sleep and rest habits, as this can also affect someone's blood sugar.

Our food service team recently celebrated National Healthcare Food Service Workers Week, which ran from Oct 5 - 11. These amazing individuals work to prepare (tasty & nutritious) food for staff and inpatients, being mindful of medically restricted diets, keeping YOU on your path to healing.

Sometimes, life can be a bit "batty" ... This recent patient testimonial is worth the read!

Welcome to beautiful Northern Nevada, Gino Cortes, MS, FNP-BC! Cortes joins the Northern Nevada Medical Group clinic team in Damonte Ranch as a patient-centric family nurse practitioner. With a Master of Science from Georgetown University and fluent in both English and Spanish, Cortes is excited to build rapport with caregivers and providers to ensure patients receive the best care possible.

Did you know nurse practitioners can conduct physical exams, assist in diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, order diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and educate patients on health and disease prevention? We’re thrilled to have Gino on board; welcome to the team!
