Today, we WEAR RED in honor of women's heart health awareness. Did you know, nearly 45% of women ages 20+ are living with some form of cardiovascular disease per the American Heart Association?

We encourage all women (and men) to meet with a provider regularly to keep their heart healthy. Knowing your numbers will help prevent heart disease and related conditions.

Being a clinical leader means keeping your focus on a variety of initiatives at the same time and building a culture where staff feel seen and heard. Lacey, RN supervisor at our newest location, ER at North Valleys, is no stranger to leading teams. She has been a nurse for six years and is passionate about curating a strong culture where staff enjoy their role and feel supported at work. She has a great team at ER at North Valleys and has enjoyed bringing them together in their first month of opening.

Thumbs up to Lacey for bringing leadership and positivity to her new role. You're in great hands with the team at ER at North Valleys.

Talk about community health partnerships in action! We recently welcomed back City of Reno Government Division Chief and Emergency Manager, Andrew Ancho, to our Sparks hospital to talk about the success of our coronary calcium screening program. The City implemented a new program focused on preventive health.

A coronary calcium score uses a CT scan to measure calcified plaque in one's heart arteries. This life-saving screening can indicate someone's risk for a heart attack or stroke. Chief Ancho shared that the program has been very successful and even saved a few lives by detecting early risk in some of their fire staff. We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with this team and keep our local firefighters healthy so they can keep protecting our communities.

Meet team member and RN, Steven who works at ER at North Valleys. He loves the FED model and was excited to join the team at our fourth freestanding emergency department. Steven has been a nurse for five years and was intrigued by the idea of supporting a new facility opening.

One of the perks of working for our System is being part of growth and development. Nurses like Steven not only get to use their expertise in patient care, but they also have the unique opportunity of learning what it takes to expand services to the community. Being part of a new facility opening helps our staff develop critical skills and exposes them to the business side of healthcare. Keep following along to hear what's brewing this year, as we continue to grow for our community!
