Today is a heavy day for law enforcement across the nation, and especially for our brothers and sisters at the Christian County Sheriff's Office as two heroes are laid to rest.

We ask our community to continue praying for the families and friends affected by this tragedy, for the safety of every officer who continues to serve, for those who were on scene that evening, for the dispatchers who answered the phones and radios on that dreadful Monday, for the ambulance crews who responded, and for the coroner who had to make a call no one should ever have to make.

May we continue to stride forward in honor of Deputy Gabriel Ramirez and Deputy Michael Hislope. May you both rest in peace. We love you both. 🙏 🖤💙🖤

Our hearts are heavy in Christian County.

In the wake of last night’s tragic loss of two law enforcement officers, we join our community in mourning and in gratitude for the men and women who serve and protect us every day.

During unimaginable moments like this, organizations such as the Christian County 100 Club step forward to support first responders and their families. We encourage our business community and residents to consider supporting the Christian County 100 Club as they care for the families and agencies impacted.

Sparta and Christian County are strong because of our people - and we stand together in times of sorrow. Please keep the families, fellow officers, and all first responders in your prayers.

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we extend our deepest condolences to the Christian County Sheriff's Office, as well as to the family, friends, and fellow officers mourning the tragic loss of two deputies, who were killed in the line of duty.

In this time of profound loss, we will continue the honor of serving for our fallen brothers’.

During Persimmon Day 2022, an unresponsive infant was brought to then Officer Byrerley.
Without hesitation, she sprang into action and began CPR , saving the baby’s life.

This past Wednesday, during our Chamber’s monthly networking meeting, Mike Ussary with Senator Schmitt’s office presented Officer Byrerley with a Senate Tribute in recognition of her remarkable service. Representative Burt Whaley was also in attendance for the presentation.

We were honored to recognize such an extraordinary act of service alongside our Chamber members. Congratulations, Officer Byrerley and we hope retirement is treating you well! 💙

URGENT NEED: With SNAP benefits not being issued in November and the holiday season approaching, Least Of These has been receiving applications for food assistance from nearly 25 new families daily. Because so many of the families are working but rely on SNAP to stretch their budgets and help keep food on the table every month, we expect the numbers we serve to soar to their highest levels in history. If you are able to donate, please give what you can. If you already give, please consider increasing your gift. Local families need YOU now more than ever. And if you pray, please pray for Least Of These, our partners and those we serve.

Exciting things are happening in Sparta! Our Board of Directors was honored to take part in the groundbreaking of Christian County Ambulance District’s new Sparta station. This new facility will be a huge win for our community, and we can’t wait to see it take shape.
