Prematurity affects 1 in 10 babies worldwide, and every journey is unique, filled with challenges and victories that highlight the incredible power of hope and love.

At Hands of Hope, we’re privileged to walk alongside these families, offering compassionate care and support tailored to the needs of both the babies and their loved ones. From managing complex medical needs to providing emotional and spiritual care, our mission is to nurture these precious lives and help families create moments of joy and connection.

Sanfilippo syndrome, also known as "childhood Alzheimer's," is a rare and progressive genetic condition that affects the brain and central nervous system, gradually robbing children of their abilities. This condition impacts not only the child but their entire family, requiring immense strength, love, and support.

On World Sanfilippo Awareness Day, we’ll share the story of one of our incredible patients to highlight the importance of compassionate care and advocacy for families navigating this journey. Together, we can raise awareness, foster understanding, and push for advancements in research and care.

🎃 Happy Halloween from Hands of Hope! 🎃

As little ghosts and goblins prepare for a night of fun, we want to make sure it’s filled with both spooky excitement and safety! Here are a few tips to keep your Halloween magical:

🕸️ Costume Safety:
Choose costumes that are bright or reflective so your little ones can be seen.
Ensure costumes fit properly to prevent trips and falls.
Opt for non-toxic makeup instead of masks to keep vision clear.

🕸️ Trick-or-Treat Safety:
Always accompany young children or ensure older kids trick-or-treat in groups.
Stay on well-lit paths and avoid crossing streets between parked cars.
Only visit homes with porch lights on and avoid entering houses.

🕸️ Candy Check:
Inspect all treats before letting your kids enjoy them.
Avoid any candy that looks unwrapped or tampered with.
Halloween is a time for making memories, having fun, and embracing a little spooky spirit! Stay safe, enjoy the night, and share your favorite Halloween costumes or stories with us in the comments! 💙

We are honored to introduce Camp Willow’s Light, our pediatric and family grief camp designed for children and families who have lost a loved one within the past three years. Our first camp will be held November 14–15 at Camp Gravett in Aiken, South Carolina, with future camps planned in other communities we serve. Named in memory of our pediatric patient, Willow "brought light, laughter, and love to all who knew her. Her smile was contagious, her spirit unbreakable...her light shines on."
