Join Operation Green Light for Veterans!

While the action is encouraged year-round, it is often highlighted and promoted leading up to and on Veterans Day, November 11th. From November 4th to 11th, our team is showing our veterans they are seen, appreciated, and supported.

To participate: Simply change one light bulb in a visible location—like your porch or office—to green. This light symbolizes hope and serves as a beacon of support. Let's greenlight our heroes forward! 💚

Need a good book? Well our clinician, Brecken Wilkinson, recommends “What Happened to You?” by Dr. Bruce Perry and Oprah Winfrey.

This is an insightful book that explores the “why” behind our behaviors, delving into the impact of emotions, expectations, trauma, and resilience on daily life.

So, if you need a new cozy read as the weather gets colder, pick up “What Happened to You?” and begin learning more about yourself. You can find this book at most online sellers and is also available at the Grace Balloch Memorial Library. https://www.spearfish.gov/836/Library

Happy reading!

This month Brecken is sharing some helpful information on How Connectedness Helps Children Heal.

Childhood trauma can have profound and lasting effects on a child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Trauma, whether from abuse, neglect, loss, or instability, can disrupt a child’s sense of safety and well-being. However, research shows that connectedness and supportive relationships can play a powerful role in helping children recover and thrive.

NEW BLOG POST ALERT!

The Power of Connection: Shining a Light on Su***de Prevention

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on a difficult topic and remind everyone that a single conversation can change a life.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that in 2023, su***de was the 11th leading cause of death in the United States. While these numbers can feel overwhelming, there is hope. Prevention is possible, and it begins with understanding, compassion, and the courage to connect.

Welcome Brecken to the Ensō Mental Health Team!

Hi I'm Brecken! As a therapist, I help individuals, teens, and families (ages 4+) work through life's challenges. I believe in your resilience and offer a safe, collaborative space for you to heal and grow. Whether you’re processing past experiences or looking for tools to manage everyday stress, I’m here to support your journey toward healing and growth.

I received my master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Kansas State University. I have two years of hands-on clinical experience working with individuals, couples, families, children, and parents, ranging in age from 4 to 65. These experiences have shaped my warm, authentic, and adaptable approach to care.

I specialize in a variety of therapeutic approaches and tailor each one to your unique needs. Outside of the therapy room, you can find me exploring the beautiful sights of South Dakota with my dog or diving into a good book.

To schedule with Brecken call, text, or go online to ensomh.com. (605) 519-5850

Hi, I’m Brady, I’m your dedicated Client Care Coordinator here at Ensō Mental Health! As one of the first people you’ll see or talk to when you arrive, I’m here to help make your experience as smooth, welcoming, and supportive as possible. Whether it’s scheduling appointments, answering questions, or simply offering a friendly smile, I enjoy being part of a team that walks alongside people on their mental health journeys.

I grew up in Spearfish, and I’m excited to return to the community while I continue my education. In 2024, I graduated from South Dakota State University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work at the University of South Dakota.

Outside of work and school, I enjoy reading, writing, painting, and spending time outdoors. I’m also passionate about culturally responsive mental health care and hope to continue serving rural and marginalized communities in my future clinical work. I’ve always gravitated toward roles that allow me to connect with others, and I believe kindness, patience, and a listening ear go a long way in creating a safe and welcoming space.

If you ever need anything here at Ensō Mental Health, I’m here for you. I look forward to meeting you!

Do you know about Pathways Spiritual Sanctuary?!

Pathways Spiritual Sanctuary is a quiet, safe, sacred place where visitors can spend time walking, sitting, contemplating, reading, writing, reflecting or healing in the natural landscape of the sacred Black Hills of South Dakota.

The theme of Pathways is “Beyond Belief” as it is a place that is beyond the diversity of beliefs, race, religion, culture, personal histories and life experiences. It is open to all who choose to visit. Within the Sanctuary, all can walk as one and honor the sacredness of all forms of life and Mother Earth.
