Only two final days to also donate via our Amazon wish list (included on this post) to help us fill the 400 (!!!) stocking requests that have already come in.

The link to register for the free stocking(s) through The Stocking Project will close at midnight on Sunday evening, just as the calendar flips to December. At that point, we will be no longer accepting stocking registrations and our Amazon wish list will be cleared so we can focus on the next task of filling the 400+ stockings for pick up the following week. Happy Thanksgiving from Northwest Iowa Counseling!

Today we are especially grateful for the clients who trust us with their stories, the community that surrounds us with support, and the dedicated NWIAC staff who show up every day with compassion, skill, and heart.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your healing and growth. We are honored to serve Spencer, Estherville, and Northwest Iowa as a whole.

STOCKING PROJECT UPDATE: 350 Stocking Requests… and Counting!

We are blown away by the response from our community — 350 children have already been added to The Stocking Project, and more requests continue to come in. The need is real, and we are honored to help meet it.

Many of you have kindly asked how you can help, and we are so grateful for every offer:

✨ You can also purchase a still-needed item directly from our Amazon Wish List (see below).
We will continue to add items to the wish list over the next several days as specific needs become more clear. There is truly no purchase too small — every single item makes a meaningful difference.

We will be accepting both stocking requests and donations UP UNTIL 12/1, so we can begin the big (and joy-filled!) job of assembling stockings for each child.

⭐️One more week to sign up! ⭐️

THE STOCKING PROJECT — A Northwest Iowa Counseling Community Initiative

The holidays can be an especially hard time for families, and we know finances feel tight for many right now. At Northwest Iowa Counseling, we want every child in our community to experience the joy and magic of Christmas — including having a stocking hung just for them.

Through The Stocking Project, we will be providing FREE filled Christmas stockings for local kids. Each stocking will be thoughtfully prepared based on the child’s age and gender preference (if requested), ensuring it feels personal and special.
This project is for any family, Northwest Iowa Counseling client or not, who could benefit — no explanation needed.

Families must submit their request through the online link by DECEMBER 1. When completing the form, please make sure to select a pick-up time that will work for you.

No barriers. No questions asked. Just community caring for its kids.

Happy ONE YEAR anniversary to our very own, Ashley!

Today we’re celebrating one full year of Ashley officially serving as a therapist with Northwest Iowa Counseling — though her journey with us began even earlier during her internship. Ashley brings a steadfast loyalty to both her clients and our practice. She has a unique passion for walking alongside individuals who don’t always feel seen, valued, or understood. Her ability to meet people exactly where they are, honor their experiences, and help them feel deeply valued is something truly special.
Ashley also spends time in both the Spencer Middle School and Spencer High School, working closely with school staff to support her clients in their everyday environment. This collaboration offers tremendous benefit — allowing students to receive consistent support. We are so grateful for Ashley’s dedication to SMS and SHS.
Ashley — thank you for your heart, your commitment, and the compassion you bring into our halls every day.
Here’s to your next year, and to many more!

We are less than a week away from Thanksgiving, a time of giving thanks for all we have. Whether that is food in our bellies or family and friends we are blessed with.

🍂NW Iowa Counseling and The Bread Shed are coming together to offer 50 meals to those who may need some help this season

There are 2 “ready to cook” meal options available and are on a first come first serve basis.

Pickup will be THIS Friday, November 21st, from 5-6:30pm or until gone… At The Bread Shed!

We only ask that we provide these meals to those who may have missed out on UDMO’s Thanksgiving meal or may not qualify. If you need a meal for Thanksgiving, please stop by 🫶🏼
