Elbow pain can make everyday activities surprisingly difficult.

Lifting a grocery bag.
Turning a doorknob.
Picking up a child.
Even gripping a coffee mug.

Conditions like Tennis Elbow and Golfer's Elbow develop from repetitive strain and inflammation in the tendons surrounding the elbow joint. Sports like tennis, golf, and even Pickleball can contribute—but so can manual labor, weightlifting, or repetitive work tasks.

The good news is that elbow pain doesn’t have to be managed with medications alone.

Acupuncture works by helping the body release natural pain-relieving chemicals, reducing inflammation, and increasing circulation to the injured area to support healing.

Supportive therapies like cupping and moxibustion can further improve circulation and relieve tension in the joint.

With the right care, it’s possible to reduce pain, restore mobility, and get back to doing the things you love—without worrying about that painful elbow.

Elbow pain from tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, or overuse can limit daily life. Learn how acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping help relieve elbow pain naturally.

Happy Easter 🌷

Spring is such a beautiful reminder of renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings. This season invites us to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—whether that’s through faith, family traditions, or simply enjoying the energy of new life all around us.

For many, Easter is a meaningful celebration of hope, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Alongside these traditions, symbols like decorated eggs and the Easter bunny have roots going back centuries, representing fertility, new life, and the awakening of spring.

No matter how you celebrate, the message of Easter is powerful and universal:

✨ Renewal is always possible.

Just as nature begins to bloom again, this is a perfect time to reset and support your own health and well-being. Simple practices—like nourishing foods, time outdoors, movement, rest, and supportive therapies such as acupuncture—can help restore balance and encourage your body’s natural healing.

Who do you love?

When you think about the people you cherish most… do you include yourself?

You don’t have to be first on the list — but you deserve to be on it.

Loving yourself isn’t selfish. It’s healthy. And one of the clearest ways to show self-love is through how you care for your health.

✨ Taking a walk — even a short one
✨ Going to bed earlier
✨ Drinking more water
✨ Choosing nourishing foods
✨ Allowing yourself the occasional treat without guilt
✨ Practicing meditation, journaling, yoga, Tai Qi, or Qi Gong
✨ Making time to breathe

These aren’t luxuries. They are acts of respect for your body and mind.

When you care for your health:
• You have more patience
• You function better at work
• You care for your home with more ease
• You show up more fully for the people you love

And therapies like acupuncture can support you beyond symptom relief — helping you sleep better, feel calmer, reduce stress, improve mood, and maintain balance as part of a regular wellness routine.

Self-love is not a slogan. It’s a practice.

You deserve the same care you so freely give to others 💛

Discover why loving yourself means prioritizing your health and well-being. Learn practical self-care habits and how acupuncture supports long-term wellness and balance.

Pain isn’t always physical.

Millions of people today struggle with anxiety, stress, and depression — emotional challenges that can quietly affect sleep, energy, mood, and overall quality of life.

While medications can be incredibly important and helpful for many people, some individuals are looking for additional ways to support their emotional well-being.

This is where acupuncture can make a powerful difference.

By stimulating specific points on the body, acupuncture helps encourage the natural release of endorphins and other mood-supporting chemicals while calming the nervous system.

Many patients notice benefits such as:

✨ Reduced anxiety
✨ Improved sleep
✨ Better mood
✨ Increased relaxation
✨ Clearer thinking

Herbal medicine and simple lifestyle practices like proper hydration, balanced nutrition, movement, and breathing exercises can further support the body’s return to balance.

Healing doesn’t mean masking symptoms — it means helping the body remember how to restore its natural equilibrium.

You don’t have to live behind a mask of stress or emotional exhaustion.

Your body already knows how to heal — sometimes it just needs the right support.

Emotional pain like anxiety and depression affects millions. Learn how acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle changes can naturally support mood, reduce stress, and restore balance.

Spring has arrived in the Texas Hill Country 🌿

The temperatures are warm but not yet hot. Fields are beginning to bloom with beautiful bluebonnets and wildflowers. Deer are welcoming tiny fawns, foxes are raising curious little kits, and nature feels alive again.

Spring is truly a magical time in Texas.

In East Asian medicine, spring corresponds with the Wood element and the Liver meridian — a season connected with growth, movement, and renewal.

Just like plants pushing up from the earth, our bodies are also shifting with the season.

This often means:
🌼 More outdoor activity
🌼 Yard work and gardening
🌼 Sports like golf, pickleball, or hiking
🌼 Increased pollen and seasonal allergies

While spring invites us outside, it can also bring muscle strains, tension, or allergy symptoms.

Acupuncture can help support your body through these seasonal transitions by promoting circulation, easing pain, calming inflammation, and helping restore balance.

Supportive therapies used during treatment — like the herbal liniment Evil Bone Water (Zheng Gui Shui) — can also help with sore muscles, sprains, itchy bug bites, mild sunburns, and even help discourage insects.

Spring is a beautiful reminder that health and renewal are always possible.

If your body is ready for a reset this season, acupuncture can help you feel balanced, energized, and ready to enjoy everything spring has to offer. 🌼

Happiness isn’t just a feeling — it’s powerful medicine

On March 20, the International Day of Happiness reminds us that true wellbeing goes far beyond the surface. It’s about connection, balance, and how we care for both our mind and body.

Stress, overwhelm, and disconnection can show up physically — as tension, poor sleep, fatigue, or pain. But the opposite is also true: when we feel calm, supported, and grounded, the body responds in incredible ways.

That’s one of the beautiful things about acupuncture
It doesn’t just help relieve pain — it helps regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, reduce stress, and create space for a calmer, more positive state of mind.

Many patients come in for one concern…
but stay because they start feeling better in every way — more relaxed, more clear, more like themselves again.

This year’s theme, “Happier Together,” is a reminder that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens through connection — to ourselves, our community, and the care we give our bodies.

Take a moment today to:
• Do something kind
• Check in with yourself
• Support your wellbeing
• And create space for balance

Because when you feel better, you live better

Celebrate International Day of Happiness 2026 by exploring how happiness impacts physical and emotional health. Learn how acupuncture supports wellbeing, reduces stress, and helps you feel more balanced, connected, and resilient.

Back pain is so common that if you don’t have it — you probably know someone who does.

Long hours sitting. Poor posture. Lifting improperly. Old injuries. Stress. Disc issues. Muscle strain. Even strong cores don’t always prevent injury if body mechanics are off.

Too often the solution is simply masking the pain.

But relief shouldn’t just cover up symptoms — it should promote healing.

Acupuncture works by:
✔ Increasing circulation
✔ Reducing inflammation
✔ Relaxing tight muscles
✔ Releasing natural endorphins
✔ Regulating the nervous system

Supportive therapies like cupping, gua sha, infrared light therapy, moxa, and Evil Bone Water can further enhance recovery.

And treatments are always personalized — even if lying flat isn’t comfortable.

Back pain may be common — but it doesn’t have to be permanent.

Your body has the ability to heal when given the right support.

Discover how acupuncture helps relieve back pain naturally by promoting circulation, reducing inflammation, and supporting healing. Learn about cupping, gua sha, infrared therapy, Evil Bone Water, and moxibustion for back pain relief.

Our Story

Mission Statement:

At Karma Zen Acupuncture, we work to always achieve outstanding results for our patients by providing them personalized care through acupuncture and other complimentary therapies.

Our Clinic:

Karma Zen Acupuncture is part of the Bee Creek Clinic. Our practice is located in the Bee Creek Business Park, along with Dr. Larry Mann, DC, of Pedernales Chiropractic. As Spicewood continues to grow, we are happy to be a part of this wonderful community and to support people’s health using a naturalistic approach with an ancient medicine that has withstood the test of time. Our acupuncturist is local resident Dr. Katrina Giangarra, DACM., L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. She loves the serene nature and scenic beauty of the Spicewood area, and she wanted to start her practice here because she saw an opportunity to make acupuncture more accessible to the community. She loves seeing the positive impact acupuncture has on her patients, an impact she has also experienced firsthand.
