Anxiety doesn’t just live in our thoughts — it lives in our bodies too.

In this week’s Mind | Body | Soul episode, Rachel and Jen circle back to last week’s anxiety conversation and share real-life updates about how they’re working with anxiety while navigating parenting, business ownership, relationships, and everyday stress.

They talk about the importance of:
✨ Self-compassion
✨ Slowing down and acknowledging feelings
✨ Giving ourselves space to process instead of pushing through

Plus, they share details about their upcoming Yoga + Therapy Experience designed to help you work with anxiety through both the body and mind.

Instead of just talking about anxiety, we’ll explore it through movement, nervous system awareness, and supportive conversation.

Come breathe. Move. Process. Heal. 💛

03/09/2026

Your body remembers.

It remembers every room where you didn’t feel safe.
Every moment you had to shrink yourself to survive.
Every time you carried pain quietly.

Healing isn’t only something that happens in the mind.
It’s also teaching your body that those spaces no longer exist — that it’s safe to soften, breathe, and release.

Emotional Release Yoga – 4 Week Series 🧘‍♀️
A gentle, supportive space designed to help you let go physically, emotionally, and energetically.

📅 Sundays | 1:00 – 2:00 PM
April 12 – May 3

📍 Lakes Counseling & Wellness Center
507 18th Street
Spirit Lake, IA 51360

This 4-week yoga series will guide you through areas of the body where emotions and stress are commonly stored, helping you reconnect with your body and release what you’ve been carrying.

Weekly Focus

🧘‍♀️ Week 1: Neck, Shoulders & Jaw
Release tension from overthinking, clenching, and carrying the weight of “everything.”

💨 Week 2: Chest & Lungs
Open the heart and breath — helpful for grief, sadness, anxiety, and feeling emotionally closed off.

🌙 Week 3: Hips, Pelvis & Low Back
The emotional storage center of the body. We’ll gently work with deep-seated stress and suppressed emotions.

✨ Week 4: Stomach, Hands & Full-Body Release
Digest emotions, release control, and leave feeling lighter, grounded, and more whole.

This series may be especially helpful if you:

• Feel chronically tense or “on edge”
• Carry stress in your body but don’t know how to release it
• Feel emotionally stuck or overwhelmed
• Prefer gentle movement instead of intense workouts
• Are in therapy or doing healing work and want body-based support

You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need yoga experience.

You just need a body — and the willingness to let it soften.

💰 Cost: $71 for the full 4-week series
⚠️ Class space is limited

BOUNDARIES SERIES | Why You Need Boundaries

Healthy boundaries are not selfish—they’re essential.

When we don’t have clear boundaries, we often find ourselves overcommitting, people-pleasing, and saying yes when we truly mean no. Over time, this can lead to burnout, resentment, and emotional exhaustion. Instead of showing up as our best selves, we show up depleted.

Boundaries protect your time, energy, and emotional well-being so you can live and give from a place of balance rather than obligation.

One important truth about boundaries:
The right people won’t be offended by them—they’ll respect them.
People who care about you want you to be healthy, balanced, and able to show up authentically. Boundaries actually create stronger, healthier relationships because they bring clarity, honesty, and mutual respect.

But if setting boundaries feels uncomfortable, you’re not alone. Many of us were never taught how to do this in a healthy way. We may feel guilt, fear disappointing others, or worry about conflict.

This is where therapy can be incredibly helpful.

A therapist can help you:
• Identify where boundaries may be missing in your life
• Understand the patterns that make it hard to say no
• Practice communicating your needs clearly and confidently
• Work through the guilt or anxiety that can come with change
• Build healthier relationships based on respect and balance

Setting boundaries is a skill—and like any skill, it can be learned and strengthened with support.

Lakes Counseling and Wellness Center is here to support you through every step of your healing journey. Whether you come for one session to gain clarity or ongoing support for deeper growth, you deserve a space where you can learn, heal, and grow.

Healthy boundaries don’t push people away.
They make space for the relationships and life that truly support you. 🤍

THE REASON WHY PEOPLE WHO’VE BEEN THROUGH THERAPY OFTEN SAY IT’S THE BEST INVESTMENT:

It’s not because therapy magically solved every problem.
It’s not because life suddenly became easy.

It’s because it changed the relationship they have with their own thinking.

Instead of being overwhelmed by every anxious thought…
Instead of believing every inner critic…
Instead of reacting on autopilot…

They learned to pause.
To notice.
To question.

They became the observer of themselves.

And that skill? It doesn’t stay in the therapy room.

It shows up in:
✨ Relationships
✨ Parenting
✨ Leadership
✨ Decision-making
✨ Boundaries
✨ Stressful moments
✨ Everyday conversations

When you can step back and observe your thoughts instead of being controlled by them, everything shifts. You respond instead of react. You choose instead of spiral. You grow instead of repeat.

That’s why so many people say therapy is the best investment they’ve made — because it strengthens a skill that improves every area of life.

If you’ve been thinking about starting, this might be your sign.

BOUNDARIES SERIES — How to Hold Boundaries

Setting boundaries is step one.
Holding them is the real work.

Anyone can say, “That doesn’t work for me.”
The growth shows up in what you do next.

Holding a boundary looks like:

• Repeating yourself calmly (even when you’re tired of hearing your own voice)
• Following through on consequences
• Resisting the urge to over-explain or justify your needs
• Allowing others to be disappointed without rushing in to fix it
• Staying grounded when someone pushes back

Because here’s the truth:
The first time you set a boundary, people may test it. Not always maliciously — sometimes because they’re used to the old version of you.

Consistency is the message.

When your words and actions match over time, you teach people how to treat you. Not through force. Not through anger. Through steadiness.

And this is where therapy can be powerful.

Therapy helps you:
• Understand why holding boundaries feels uncomfortable (fear of rejection? conflict? being seen as “too much”?)
• Unlearn people-pleasing and over-functioning patterns
• Regulate guilt and anxiety that show up when you say no
• Practice scripts and responses in a safe space
• Build the self-trust needed to follow through

Many of us weren’t taught that boundaries are healthy. We were taught to keep the peace, be agreeable, or earn love through self-sacrifice.

Holding boundaries often means grieving the version of you that survived by overextending.

But on the other side?
Self-respect.
Clarity.
Healthier relationships.

You don’t need to be louder.
You need to be consistent.

What’s one boundary you’re working on holding right now?

✨ NEW EPISODE + NEW OFFERING ✨

This week on Mind | Body | Soul, Rachel & Jen talk about something so many of us quietly wrestle with:

How do we practice self-compassion… without using it to justify the very behaviors that are causing our suffering?

We’re diving into:
• Health, diet & personal responsibility
• Being hard on ourselves vs. holding ourselves accountable
• Chronic frustration & negative self-talk
• The idea that dis-ease can come from not living in alignment with our purpose

And we’re so excited to share a new experience we’re offering through Lakes Counseling and Wellness Center:

🧘‍♀️ Yoga + Therapy: Anger & Self-Compassion

Feeling angry all the time?
Hard on yourself?
Stuck in negative self-talk?

If you’re quick to react and slow to soften…
If your inner voice is more critical than kind…
Or if you’re craving a healthier way to process big emotions —

This experience was created for you.

Anger isn’t “bad.”
It’s information. It’s energy.

This intentional space is designed to help you explore, understand, and move through that energy safely and compassionately.

Here’s what to expect:
