Aid Rendered Alert!
Refuge Medical,
Hi, this is (Redacted). I’m currently Active Duty in the Army, and I wanted to share my experience with one of your products, the BearFAK 3.0, which I purchased back in 2022.
I’ve carried this IFAK system with me ever since, through Germany, Guam, and several other locations. Thankfully, I never had to use it, but it was always reassuring to have. Recently, however, that changed during a deployment in (redacted).
While stationed in (Redacted), our base came under attack by drones, TBMs, and cruise missiles. Typically, these attacks happen at night, but this one occurred early in the morning. When the alarm went red, indicating an incoming attack, we followed standard procedure, grabbed our gear, and moved toward the bunker.
It felt unusual being attacked during daylight. I had just arrived at this base, only my second day there after coming from (redacted). As I stepped outside briefly to see if I could spot an interceptor, one of my teammates warned me to get back inside, mentioning that recent attacks had been getting through.
As soon as I got back into the bunker, a TBM struck just about 10 feet from the entrance. The blast knocked all of us unconscious for a moment. When I came to, I was coughing and immediately started calling out for my teammate next to me. Then I heard screams coming from the other side of the bunker.
Two individuals, soldiers from another unit who had also taken shelter there, were injured. My team and I pulled them further inside. Both were bleeding, but one was significantly more injured than the other.
We checked for IFAKs, but neither of them had one on hand. That’s when I grabbed mine. The first casualty had a head wound. I used supplies from my IFAK to treat him, and after assessing that he wasn’t in immediate critical danger, I moved on to assist the second individual.
My teammates had already identified a severe leg injury. While one of them kept the casualty alert and talking, I began treating the wound. He had roughly three inches of his right shin missing. I used nearly everything in my kit to stabilize him.
The IFAK I purchased from your company had everything I needed. Compared to the standard issue Army IFAK, I would have needed two or three just to match what your kit provided. I never hoped to use it, but when the moment came, it made a real difference.
Thank you to you and your company for putting together such a capable kit. I’m currently in (redacted) receiving treatment, and I just wanted to express my gratitude. It was truly a great purchase.
Respectfully,
(Redacted)"
