Shoulder pain is rarely just a “shoulder problem.”

As a physiotherapist, this is a misconception I see every day.

Poor shoulder alignment and weak stabilizing muscles increase stress on the shoulder joints. When deeper muscles don’t do their job, larger muscles overwork — leading to tension, pain, and limited movement.

Your shoulders adapt to what’s happening in your upper back, neck, and even your breathing. Loss of control and movement quality often comes long before pain.

That’s why shoulder stability work is a medical necessity, not a fitness trend.
