Day 8 of my "Get Moving" challenge =Dance Party house cleaning 😅

I had a morning full of errands so I didn't get my typical workout in before I started my day. So, I did the next best thing and after lunch when it was time to clean my house I picked some upbeat "Get Moving" music, grabbed my rag and cleaned to the beat. I got my heart rate up, added a few squats and lunges and laughed at myself as I danced up a sweat. Being active doesn't always have to come in the form of a traditional workout, besides, scrubbing a shower clean is an amazing arm workout 😅.

Day 5 of 30 day "Get Moving" challenge = Ankle strengthening exercises.
Short recap of my activity the last few days; day 3 - 3.8mile hike, day 4 - stretch and foam roll, today (day 5) ankle strengthening.

After my increased activity over the last few days and wearing a pair of shoes that apparently bothers my ankle, I am dealing with some ankle pain on the inside of my ankle when I walk. I rolled my right ankle pretty bad about 5 years ago and probably didn't rehab it very well due to my job and life at the time. Fast forward to present day and I am now suffering with ankle muscle imbalances from my past choices. Although it doesn't seem like a "get moving" type activity, taking some time to focus on the issue and not just pushing through is the best course of action and helps me stay moving in a healthier way in the long run.

Ankle mobility and strength is so incredibly important and is the foundation of walking and running and can also affect balance. If you have poor ankle joint health, it can directly affect the knees and hips, potentially creating further muscle imbalances up the chain. Taking the time for these overlooked joints can make a huge difference in how you move and improve your overall motivation in the long run. There are several simple exercises you can do for your ankle health that take minimal time.

With adding in the wellness side of the business and focusing in on how your muscles function and how their joint mobility directly ties into the therapeutic massage aspects, I have really been trying to practice what I preach.

I'm on day 2 of a 30day "Get Moving" goal (This is my third attempt). Motivation is a serious struggle some days and I frequently feel discouraged and that I'm not doing enough for my own health. I try and push for an intentional 10minutes a day to move, stretch, and work on joint mobility. Some days I barely feel motivated for that 10minutes, and then other days, like today, I knock out a whole 45minute workout because I feel good and want to keep going. That's ok though, the point is just to get moving every day and use those muscles so that you maintain muscle function and mobility. Some days are going to be better than others. So, don't be discouraged! Find what works for you, whether 10minutes or 60minutes and just move with intention.
