In-person appointments are open.

I will be in the Spokane office June 1–5.
The next in-person availability after that will be August 3–7.

These weeks tend to fill quickly, especially for new patients who need more comprehensive time to go through their health history and testing.

If you’ve been wanting to be seen in person for fatigue, hormone concerns, gut issues, or more complex chronic symptoms, this is a good time to get on the schedule.

If you’re not sure where to start, you can book a 10-minute discovery call first.

Scheduling is available through the link in bio.

One of the biggest clues I look for:

You feel worse in a specific environment… and better when you leave.

That’s not a coincidence.

That can point to environmental triggers like mold exposure.

Especially if you’re also dealing with:
• Brain fog
• Sinus congestion
• Headaches
• Fatigue that won’t lift

This is something I see missed all the time.

I explained how to recognize mold illness in my latest blog.

Earth Day isn’t just about the planet. It’s about your health.

Many of the chronic symptoms I see—fatigue, brain fog, inflammation—are influenced by environmental exposures.

Mold.
Chemicals.
Air quality.

Your body is constantly interacting with your environment.

Taking care of the earth and reducing what you’re exposed to at home matters more than most people think.

I’ve been in private practice since 2009, focused on helping patients find root causes and real answers.

Not all naturopathic doctors are the same.

I went to an actual naturopathic medical school. I passed two board exams. I do countless hours of continuing medical education per year (WA requires 30 hours per year).

If you would like to learn more, schedule a free 10 min Discovery Call. Link in bio.

What is one food you wish was healthy?

I’ll go first… nachos.

I wish nachos were the ultimate health food.

Sure, I can make them healthier at home with organic corn chips, good quality cheese, fajita meat, jalapeños, and guacamole. And that’s a much better option.

But sometimes I just want to walk into a restaurant, order nachos, and not feel like I just dropped a bomb on my calorie intake.

They’re my comfort food. They’re what I crave when I’m stressed.

And honestly, this is where a lot of people get stuck.

It’s not about willpower. It’s about understanding why those cravings hit in the first place.

Blood sugar swings, stress, and hormones all play a role in what your body asks for.

So instead of trying to be perfect, I focus on helping patients understand their patterns and make better choices without feeling restricted.

Now I’m curious…

What’s your food?

Adequate protein intake sends your body a very clear message: hold on to muscle and use fat for fuel.

This is one of the most overlooked pieces when people are trying to lose weight or improve body composition. If protein is too low, the body doesn’t just burn fat… it also breaks down muscle. And that works against you long term, especially as we age.

Muscle is metabolically active. It supports blood sugar balance, hormone health, and overall resilience. Protecting it should always be part of the plan.

I talked more in depth about this in my newsletter that went out on August 16, including why protein needs are often higher than people think and how this ties into sustainable weight loss.

One of the biggest things I see in my practice:

People being told “everything looks normal” when they feel anything but normal.

Normal labs don’t always mean optimal function.

There are deeper layers to fatigue, brain fog, weight resistance, and chronic symptoms that often get missed.

This is where advanced testing and individualized care matter.

If you’ve been told your labs are fine but you don’t feel fine, there’s usually more to the story.

That’s the work I do every day.

I’ve been a little quiet on here since November… and honestly, that space was intentional.

Behind the scenes I’ve been working with patients, learning, refining how I approach complex chronic symptoms, and getting really clear on how I can serve you better.

If you’ve been struggling with fatigue, inflammation, hormone issues, gut problems, or symptoms that don’t seem to have clear answers… you’re not alone.

My focus is simple: help you understand what’s actually going on in your body so you can stop guessing and start making progress.

If you’re new here, I’m Dr. Julie George, a naturopathic doctor who focuses on root cause medicine and advanced testing.

And if you’ve been here a while, I’m glad you’re still here.

More to come.

New research that may be promising for patients that have Lyme disease. I’m looking forward to learning more about this in the future to help.

Scientists just uncovered a major twist in how the Lyme bacteria works — and it could change future treatments. 💚🧬

A new study published this week in the journal mBio reveals that manganese, the mineral Borrelia burgdorferi uses to shield itself from your immune system, is also a major crack in its armor.

Northwestern’s Brian Hoffman, one of the study leaders, explained it perfectly:

“Manganese is a double-edged sword in Lyme disease. It’s both Borrelia’s armor and its weakness. If we can target the way it manages manganese, we could open doors for entirely new approaches for treating Lyme disease.”

Here’s what that means in simple terms ⤵️

Borrelia needs manganese to survive — it uses it like a protective forcefield.

But if the bacteria don’t get enough manganese, the shield collapses.

And if they get too much, the manganese becomes toxic and harms them.

Either way, the bacteria become much easier for the immune system — or treatments — to destroy.

Researchers used advanced imaging to watch Borrelia try to juggle this delicate manganese balance.

🔬 As the bacteria age, they lose their ability to manage manganese, making their weak spot even bigger.

This discovery opens the door to future treatments that could weaken Lyme by disrupting this manganese balance — starving the bacteria, overwhelming it, or blocking its ability to use manganese as protection.

Real science. Real hope. 💚✨
