What a magical way to spend Christmas! 🎄❤️
As a student midwife, I had the incredible privilege of attending a peaceful home water birth on Christmas morning. I got the call Christmas Eve around 10pm and headed out into the quiet night—driving through rural Idaho with deer and wildlife crossing the road under the stars. It felt like the perfect prelude to something special.
When I arrived, I joined forces with the amazing .just.alicia (an Idaho midwife I truly admire)and (the other student I work with)Mom was laboring beautifully under the soft glow of Christmas lights, supported every step by her loving husband.
At exactly 3am, sweet baby girl Lucy Joy made her entrance into the world—in the water, calm and wide-eyed. She didn’t cry at all; she just gazed around the room in pure awe, taking it all in. It took some gentle encouragement from Alicia and me to remind her to take those first breaths—she finally did, with the most adorable “glare” like she was mildly annoyed we were interrupting her wonder! 😍 No dramatic cries, just peaceful, steady breathing.
Mom was an absolute powerhouse, and Dad beamed with pride as they welcomed their perfect Christmas gift. Watching them snuggle up in bed with their newest bundle was just the sweetest.
Home birth magic at its finest—grateful to be part of such a sacred moment. Welcome to the world, little Lucy Joy! 🌟
