🖐🏽 Five Years!!

They say it takes a village to raise a child, but we’ve learned it also takes a village to support a doula (or two 😅)

Today, as we look back on the last five years, our hearts are completely full. 🥰What started as a shared passion, and dream between the two of us has grown into a journey we could have never imagined.

To our amazing clients, thank you for inviting us into your most sacred spaces. To the families who trusted us in the quiet hours of the night, the intensity of labor, and the tender haze of the postpartum weeks, thank you. Being a witness to your strength and your transition into parenthood is the greatest honor of our lives. You aren’t just “clients” to us; you are the heartbeat of our business.

To our community & fellow pros…the midwives, OBs, nurses, lactation consultants, and fellow doulas, thank you for the collaboration and the late-night check-ins. We are so proud to work alongside such a dedicated group of birth and postpartum professionals. Your support makes this work sustainable and our community stronger. 💪🏽

Five years, hundreds of tiny toes, and countless cups of coffee (so much coffee 😅) later... we are just getting started. Thanks for riding along this journey with us, cheers! 🍾

This really goes for anyone who is a part of your child’s life!

I can’t count how many times as a parent I’ve heard:

“Well that’s not how we did it back in my day.”
”I know how to take care of a baby, you turned out fine, right?”
”I know you gave us a list to follow, but we didn’t want to.”
”Seriously?? That’s ridiculous.”
“I’m the grandparent, I’ll do what I want.”

The truth is, YOU KNOW YOUR CHILD. You are the one who sees them everyday of their lives. You don’t have to justify how you raise your child! And the bottom line is, if people cannot or will not respect your boundaries regarding your children, you have the right to speak up, or not allow them access to your family. It’s a privilege to be a grandparent/aunt/uncle, not a right. ♥️

I’m going to miss this little bean! A couple weeks ago, I talked with a soon to be dad, whose surrogate was about to give birth to his first baby. He lives on the east coast, and felt like he needed support while they were in Spokane for a week following the birth. Normally, I wouldn’t have any room in my schedule for a week of overnights, plus daytime support on such short notice, but somehow he caught me at just the right time.

I enthusiastically said yes! I love working with surrogates, and intended parents.

Sweet baby girl was born exactly one week ago at 4lbs 12oz. When I started caring for her, she was a teeny 4lbs 8oz. She’s been my slumber party buddy every night since she’s been discharged from the hospital, and my daytime companion as I tidy the Airbnb, wash bottles, do laundry, and even bake homemade sourdough for her dad and grandpa.

It’s been an amazing week! Tonight is dad’s first night solo, and they fly out tomorrow afternoon to go home, and settle into a new season of life.

Sometimes the shortest contracts leave the biggest impact in your heart. ♥️

Leaving my 3rd and final birth in January (yes, that makes 3 babies born within 4 days 😅💪🏽). It’s always extra special when I get to be in one of the rooms my kids (or grandkids) were born in. Today’s birth was in the room where my youngest, Max, was born almost exactly 22 years ago!

Congratulations to H & J on your beautiful baby girl 💕 You both rocked that delivery 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 SO proud of you!

Concerned mom here…

My 4-week-old refuses to sleep through the night, doesn’t help with bills, won’t wash pump parts, take out the trash, or do the tidying, and has made zero effort toward personal growth or a career.

Red flags?? 🚩 when can I expect this to happen ??
