This little cutie isn’t even 24hrs old yet & she’s already getting prepped into 💊 to help her Mama in the postpartum phase with recovery. 🥰

My first Spokane birth & it was one for the record books! A classic precipitous birth (meaning fast & furious) & my hands were the one to catch the babe! 😳🥳🥰🫶🏼

Back by popular demand Placenta Sunday!!! I love sharing placentas to help normalize how normal birth is. (Pssst! It’s how we all got here 😉)

This cutie placenta was the last one I did before we moved down to WA & she provided her Mama w/ 112 💊 to help her heal in postpartum.

Did you know that the average placenta is about 9️⃣ inches across and weighs just over 1 pound at full term. It has a complex structure with 32 miles of capillaries that facilitate the exchange of blood between mother and baby. 🤯

This delivery was so amazing to witness! The mama was a powerhouse & was fully in control of every step. It was such a honor to be a part of her 3rd birth, since I was a part of her 1st two children’s start & to see her get that “redemption” birth she was craving! 💪🏼

Star Wars Placenta was delivered on May the 4th… haha! This little cutie was going to be encapsulated however, she needed to get checked out by pathology to see if there was Placenta Accreta - when the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall & how that could potentially effect future pregnancies, should this mama decide to have more babies.

Check out this mamba jamba placenta! 🫶🏼 Slightly heart shaped and a pretty decent size. After encapsulating this gal she produced 145 caps for her mama to heal in postpartum.

This fresh outta da womb placenta is from a 5.2.25 birth! She’s currently being dehydrated to become capsules 💊 for her mama & will help with her postpartum recovery.

🥰 The warmer in our local hospitals Special Care Unit! A baby is brought to the Special Care Unit - kinda like a NICU but our rural town doesn’t have one & our well trained & loving nurses are able to care for baby here until they are transferred via a MediVac flight to Anchorage or Seattle, if they are needing more NICU support.

This is also a room where c-sections baby’s come to after mom is done in surgery & they get to hang with Dad/partner/grandparent etc until Mama is cleared by her PACU nurse to have the baby in the room. 🥰

This gorgeous placenta waited for me in a freezer until I came back from vacation & she was able to produce 109 💊’s for her postpartum healing Mama & then I shipped them off to her small town SE Alaska community where she had gone back home to.

The 2nd placenta to join us on the same day in Feb was thicck & she provided her mama with 130 💊despite the smaller looking size of her. She’s a rockstar!

The two births in one day back in February also happened on the day of the full 🌕! I snapped this quickly on my way home in the early AM to help get my daughter to school & then shot back to the hospital.

Appropriately enough, Februarys full moon was the Snow Moon & it had snowed the night before. 🥰 It’s all in the details. ❄️
