β€œWow, what a wonderful two years this has been.

Two years and one day ago I flew from Rapid City SD, where I had been living in the lowest depths of despair. I was working with dangerous wildlife and completely consumed by my addiction. I had gotten to the point of having mild hallucinations and I could not eat more than a saltine cracker a day if I was lucky. Me and the girl I had been with broke up, I got evicted and the weather was roughly -45 degrees with wind chill. I had a car with no heat and I had finally reached my own personal rock bottom, knowing that I did not want my family to have to retrieve my body from another state. I finally asked for help and my parents had found a place in Spokane WA called Spokane Falls Recover Center.

As soon as I landed in Spokane I was checking into an inpatient program. A week into program I felt a passion spark in me and I decided from that point, I wanted to be a recovery counselor. From there I went through the full outpatient program at SFRC. Right as I got my 1 year of recovery, I started college for addiction studies while working full time and I also went and performed my music on the radio in Portland Oregon. I paid off my car, paid off some debt and started a savings for the first time ever. I even started my own independent record label β€šVarland Records. I started releasing a song every other Friday and I have been doing that ever since.

Today I celebrated my two years of recovery at the place that I definitely call home today, with the people I consider to be family and at the place that saved my life. I am so incredibly grateful for my recovery and for the promises recovery offers that continue to keep coming true as long as I work for them.

I will take another 24!β€œ

It was truly spectacular to witness a full house at Spokane Falls Recovery Center todayβ€”men and women showing up on a holiday to fight for their new lives in recovery.

Addiction doesn’t take holidays, and neither does recovery.

So grateful for our dedicated team who show up 365 days a year, and incredibly proud of the men and women giving it their all, one day at a time. πŸ’™
