The reason behind your rest...

If your goal is muscular endurance or conditioning (12+reps), keep rest periods shorter around 30- 45s. This keeps your heart rate up and trains your body to recover faster between sets.

If your goal is muscle growth/hypertrophy (6-12 reps), the sweet spot is around 30 to 90 seconds of rest. It’s short enough to keep your muscles under tension but long enough to maintain good performance. This balance helps stimulate muscle growth while still challenging your body.

If your goal is to build strength or power (1–5 reps), like lifting heavy weights, you’ll want to rest longer around 2 to 5 minutes. This gives your muscles and nervous system enough time to fully recover so you can lift heavy again with maximum effort.

When you lift weights, your muscles use ATP which is your body’s main energy source. Heavy lifts use up ATP fast, and it takes time for your body to recharge it. That’s why longer rest times (2–5 minutes) are needed for strength training it lets ATP refill your energy bucket so you can lift heavy again. Shorter rest times (30–90 seconds) don’t fully restore ATP, which helps create fatigue and muscle growth instead.

Lifting heavy weights won’t make you bulky unless you’re specifically training, eating, and recovering with that as the goal. Heavy lifting helps increase strength, bone density, and and definition without the bulk

Gaining muscle mass comes from a combination of heavy weight training and proper nutrition aimed at that goal🍎

To actually look like a bodybuilder it requires an incredible amount of commitment and years of regimented exercise and nutrition. You won't end up there by accident :)💪

Fruits fit into the carbohydrate macronutrient category and consist of a type of sugar that you would need to consume a lot of to be a concern in weight loss. 🍎🍋🍌🍊🍍

The mechanism that leads to gaining fat is not carbohydrates/sugars on their own, but usually the fats that we add to our carbohydrates (for example, most people eat toast with butter, or pasta with an oily sauce, potato's with cheese and butter, etc.).

Since fruit on its own is a great source of nutrients and fiber with little fat, it can be a great tool to utilize in making your meals more filling without adding a lot of calories.💪

Are your Hoka's helping or hindering your strength training? 👟

While the Hoka shoe is beneficial for walking and running, shoes with thick padded soles can negatively affect your ability to balance and maintain form during weightlifting. Cushion acts as an unstable surface that can cause your foot to move around more than necessary during strength exercises.

A stable platform allows for the muscles of the foot/ankle to react and adjust to maintain form easier, making a flat soled shoe more beneficial for stability and maintained form during strength training!💪
