Many Spokane parents ask why some speech therapists are private pay instead of billing insurance.

The short answer ❔
So therapy can be flexible, child-centered, and focus on real-life communication goals and specific family needs- without worrying about visit limits or authorization “rules.”

Private pay allows me to provide support earlier, easily adjust goals as your child grows and demonstrates progress, and focus on what actually helps them be understood at home and school.

I realize that private pay is not the best fit for everyone, but there is no “right” choice. Just what feels right for your family. 🤍

Questions are welcome.

Hearing these words from my clients means everything 🤍

Results matter, but so do relationships. The relationships I build with families have lifelong impacts, and it is both an honor and a blessing to be a part of their journeys. 🫶🏼

I’m truly thankful! ☺️🎉

With so many clinics in Spokane offering speech therapy for children, you might be thinking… “How in the world do I know which one to choose?” 🤔😬

Here are some reasons why choosing a smaller, private practice might be a better fit and option for your child rather than a larger, more-established clinic. 👇🏼👀

1️⃣ NO WAITLIST. I make it priority to offer families immediate support, so your child will not be placed on a 6+ month waiting list going without any speech services. 🕦

2️⃣ NO TURNOVER. There is absolutely no turnover with me. I’m the only clinician and owner of the practice. I’m not going anywhere, so you don’t have to worry about your child constantly working with a new therapist. 🤗

3️⃣ INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTION. Smaller practices typically serve fewer clients, which allows therapists to spend more time understanding your child’s specific needs, customize therapy goals and materials, and adjust strategies quickly if something isn’t working. 🫂

4️⃣ STRONGER PARENT-THERAPIST COMMUNICATION. Being a smaller practice, parents are able to contact and communicate with me directly (not layers of front-desk staff). Parents are provided with more detailed session feedback and collaboration on home practice strategies. 🤳

5️⃣ FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING. I do my very best to accommodate your child’s and families schedule. Since I myself am the one who makes my own schedule, it is also generally easier to reschedule any missed appointments. 🗓️

6️⃣ CHILD CENTERED- NOT VOLUME DRIVEN. Larger clinics may need to prioritize high caseloads and meeting productivity quotas while I am able to focus more on providing quality over quantity. I work at your child’s pace and focus on making meaningful progress rather than meeting numbers. 📈

If you’re feeling skeptical about speech therapy for your child, you’re not alone.

I specialize in helping children who:
✔ Are hard to understand
✔ Leave sounds out of words (like saying “ca” for cat)
✔ Substitute sounds (like saying “tat” for cat)
✔ Feel frustrated when speaking

Speech therapy isn’t about perfection—it’s about building confidence, clarity, and connection 💙

“Everyone keeps telling me they’ll grow out of it.” 🗓️

I hear this from parents all the time — and sometimes it’s true. But sometimes, kids need a little extra support to make their speech clearer. 🎙️

Articulation disorders happen when a child has trouble making specific sounds (like /k/, /g/, or /s/).
Phonological disorders happen when a child uses patterns that simplify speech (like leaving sounds out or changing them), making them hard to understand. 🗯️

What I wish more parents knew is WHAT to look for and WHEN to seek support from an SLP. Early help can make a big difference in how confident and understood a child feels.

If you’re unsure whether your child’s speech is developing as expected, please reach out. I’m here to help! 🛟

Meet the SLP! ✨🎙️

Hi! I’m Nicole- owner and founder of Speechie in Spokane. I’m a bundle of fun and appreciate taking the time to build supportive, meaningful, and trustworthy relationships with my clients.

Believe it or not, it means a lot to children when you are honest and share things about yourself. It helps establish a positive rapport and builds trust. It is our differences that make us unique, and I will be by your child’s side every step of the way on their speech journey. 🫶🏼🥳
