Feeling a little blue today. It is the last day we are open at Lilac City Acupuncture. I am working on keeping the community acupuncture dream alive, and hopefully have something in the works - fingers crossed! Check back for updates!

It is with great sadness that I announce the closing of Lilac City Acupuncture. Our last day will be Thursday, May 16th 2019. We very much wanted to continue providing low cost community acupuncture for the Spokane community, unfortunately some circumstances have made operations unsustainable. Rebecca brings her expertise practicing Japanese style acupuncture to Lilac City.

Japanese style is different from traditional Chinese acupuncture. This difference can surprise people, who are used to one style over the other.

Japanese acupuncture uses minimal amounts of stimulation to obtain greater amounts of change in the body. This includes using thinner and fewer needles, fewer acupuncture points and shallower needle insertion. Abdominal palpation and other diagnostic tools are also used to diagnose the imbalance and design treatment plan.

Keep in mind that greater stimulation does not necessarily mean greater effect. Nor does less stimulation, using fewer needles detract from the treatment and healing.

Through the ancient tradition of the healing arts, acupuncture has evolved over time. You may find practitioners who focus on different styles. By exploring different types of acupuncture, you may find a style that resonates with you more.

One style is not better than another, they are only different. There is Traditional Chinese, Classical Chinese, Five Element, Japanese Style, Korean Style, and more!

Every body is different, and this can be a good guide for starting frequency of treatment.

Sometimes it can be hard to determine the frequency of treatments. InChina people sometimes go everyday until the problem decreases in intensity. Here in the west there is a misconception that on treatment a week is enough for any problem and that isn’t clinically proven. Usually we start with many treatments in a short period to tackle the problem and then increase the time in between as the conditions improve. Book your free consult today . .
