Gabriels Challenge, thank you for the work you’re doing to shine a light on community resources and lifting up our recovery community.

Today I learned about CAT Spokane and I thought it was pretty amazing. They have walk in support along with Suboxone, peer support, housing help, case management, and outpatient substance use disorder services. They even offer same day appointments. I did not know these services existed. It makes me think about how many programs Gabriel never knew about either, even though we tried everything and went everywhere.

Gabriel had moments when he was on Suboxone. He struggled with the schedule, but he was also dealing with housing instability and all the barriers that make recovery so hard. Learning about programs like this shows how important it is for people to know what is available.

When someone is using fentanyl or any other substance, when they say they are ready, you have to be able to get them in right away. There has to be something available in that moment. If the moment passes, if they change their mind, or if they use again, it is usually a wrap. Most of the time they do not come back.

This is why same day access is everything. Programs can offer incredible support, but it does not reach people if they cannot get in during the moment they try to reach for help.

For Gabriel’s Challenge, I want our community to know that help exists. These moments of readiness matter and we cannot afford to miss them. These awesome ladies have turned our lives around and now doing everything they can to get others to turn theirs around to. I didn’t know them before but I do now and I am so proud of them.

One day at a time. These folks understand because they’ve gone through it. I think the greatest part of my day is listening to people stories of recovery. I must set up a studio to record these amazing encouraging stories. I’m so glad I gave her a challenge can be the place where people learn where they can go to help their loved ones start on their path of recovery.

We’re feeling the fall love 🍂

A guest staying at our Recovery Options Center (ROC) created this pumpkin display: CAT ❤️ SPOKANE : as a way to celebrate community.

At CAT Spokane, recovery means more than just healing. It means creating, connecting, and giving back.

🍂 October Highlights at CAT Spokane! 🍂

This month has been full of connection, collaboration, and community!

We’re happy to share that CAT Spokane is now providing Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) services every Tuesday from 1-4 PM at the new Housing Navigation Center, operated by Jewels Helping Hands. Our Housing & Employment Case Managers are on site each week, helping folks work towards housing and stability.

As part of our recovery programming, we also took our IOP and OP clients to the pumpkin patch because recovery isn’t just about treatment; it’s about connection, joy, and belonging. 🍁

And today, our incredible team showed up in full Halloween spirit 👻, bringing smiles, laughter, and hope to everyone who walked through our doors.

Every day, our staff work together to strengthen partnerships and create pathways for our community members experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges. 💜

We’re grateful for our team, our partners, and our amazing community that keeps showing up for one another. Together, we’re building a Spokane rooted in compassion and recovery.

What does MOUD (Suboxone and Sublocade) appointments look like at CAT?

We keep it simple and surround you with a team of lived experience.

Walk in and let our receptionist know that you're there for a walk-in appointment. Next, you'll meet with a peer counselor that has walked this journey as well. They will introduce you to one of our doctors - they are supportive and respectful. You get a prescription the same day.

If you don't have insurance, our team can help you get connected with Medicaid. We will not turn you away if you don't have insurance. We're here because we've been where you are and know that this is a big step in your journey.

Please share this post to help others know about our MOUD clinic hours.

🌟 What Recovery Looks Like When You’re Experiencing Homelessness 🌟

Recovery is never a straight line—and when you’re living without stable housing, the journey is even harder. Every day is shaped by survival: finding food, warmth, and safety. Underneath it all is the weight of trauma, making each step toward healing feel even heavier.

That’s why we believe in harm reduction. Recovery doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Sometimes, progress is choosing one healthier step today than yesterday. Sometimes, it’s walking through our doors after weeks—or months—of building the courage to try, or try again.

It often takes longer for people experiencing homelessness to move toward recovery because of the challenging circumestances they are in, but every step matters. Each moment of hope, no matter how small it seems, is a milestone.

💜 To everyone on this journey: you are not alone, and every step forward is worth celebrating.

August 31 is a day set aside to reflect on the impact of overdoses on our community and to raise awareness.

Over the past three months, our team has continued to prioritize community safety and care through consistent outreach. We have successfully distributed 1,325 doses of naloxone to individuals in our community. Each dose represents a life-saving opportunity, and these efforts reflect CAT’s commitment to reducing harm and creating pathways to hope.

We've all been impacted in some way by an overdose. Please join us in caring for our community. Carry Narcan. Get trained to use it (we can help with this). Even though you may not have loved ones who use drugs, you can save the loved one of someone else.

CAT is growing — and we’re looking for a compassionate ARNP to join our team as Medical Director in our low-barrier, walk-in MOUD clinic!

For the past six years, our clinic has provided life-saving care to people experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges — thanks to the dedication of volunteer doctors and nurse practitioners. Now, we’re ready to take the next step by welcoming a part-time prescribing provider to help expand access to Suboxone and Sublocade in our community.

This role is 20 hours/week, in a supportive and peer-led nonprofit setting. We wrap care in dignity — offering housing support, reentry navigation, recovery shelter beds, and outpatient treatment.

If you believe in harm reduction, healthcare access for all, and meeting people where they are — this could be the place for you.
