Melina here 🙋🏻‍♀️

I did yoga teacher training because I couldn’t walk backwards……Actually I couldn’t walk backwards and talk at the same time. 🙃

Okay in all seriousness, I felt like I was missing a community - friends, a place to go to improve my mental health, stability and consistency in my physical yoga practice. I started doing yoga in college and then the world shut down. I started following videos online, but something was missing.

One day during my practice I got this overwhelming feeling that “I need to do this.” I started looking for teacher trainings around the city, but every offering was still online…except for one. Eclipse Power Yoga. So I signed up for a class because “I should probably try a class there before committing to a full training.” 😅

I quickly became confident with the idea of “I can do this! I can be a teacher and share my love of yoga.”

I am here today because I gambled on myself and I won. I believed (and still do) that I could empower others in their yoga practice while teaching them safe and accessible ways to take fun, as well as fundamental, poses.

Lastly, ❗️my advice to those thinking about doing a training: Whether you go in knowing exactly what you want from it or you go in having no clue, introspection, spending time with yourself and learning what you need is never a waste of time. You are your most important advocate and authority, so trust yourself and take a chance on you.

My experience with the Empowered U yoga teacher training was the most important thing I have ever done for myself.

"This is so healing...people never talk about how when you're injured or recovering there's more than just medication or physical therapy - you need to talk about it too, share your experience."

Healing is:
Being in community.
Talking about your experience.
Exchanging energy with those who care.
Being seen.
Being heard.

Conversations overheard in the lobby are our favorite! Sometimes they're silly, but sometimes they're very real. And we're here for that. ❤️
