Running a special route Saturday and can add horses, ponies, and beautiful long ears! If you have a stop with 5 or more horses, I’ll bring you a goodie basket of fresh made horse treats, my famous thrush and white line killing hoof mud, homemade hush gloss for calming your horse’s anxiety, and some OEP Swag! Let’s boogie Saturday!! You know what to do, share the news with your horse friends on this route. If your friend books, I might be able to sneak in a special treat for you too!

Optimum Equine Performance LLC will only service horses who have not traveled within the last 30 days. In addition, the barn or location must not have had any horses in or out of the facility. Stay home, teach your horse colors or how to smile… build their top line for me 😉 and wait this one out folks. It’s in everyone’s best interest. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

EHV-1 Outbreak in the United States. Wisconsin has limited exposure but exposure none the less and confirmed case(s). More info below.

OPTIMUM EQUINE PERFORMANCE takes biosecurity seriously. Sick horses will not be serviced. I will continue to sanitize equipment after every location. I will be spraying and sanitizing my mobile wagon and bags. I will be changing clothes between barns and sanitizing footwear. I will not be able to see horses that were at the spreading events until quarentine is over. If you have questions, please ask. We will be praying for the horses exposed, the horses lost, and their families. Hug your ponies!

WHAT IS EQUINE HERPESVIRUS “EHV”?

Equine herpesvirus (EHV), sometimes called equine rhinopneumonitis, is a highly contagious family of viruses found in horses worldwide. Nine strains of EHV are recognized, but three pose the greatest disease risk in the U.S.:

EHV-1 is the most concerning strain, capable of causing:

Fever
Respiratory illness
Abortion in pregnant mares
Neurological disease (EHM)
EHM (equine herpes myeloencephalopathy) is the neurological manifestation of EHV-1. It occurs when the virus affects blood vessels in the spinal cord and brain, leading to:

Hind-end weakness
Incoordination or stumbling
Difficulty urinating
Loss of tail tone
Inability to stand (recumbency)
EHM can be life-threatening and requires immediate veterinary attention.

Congratulations to the Drost Family on another great outing! Grandfather and Grandson took home trophies this last weekend! 🏆 Headed that way tonight to work on the big guys. Tiny or gigantic… horses seem to keep multiplying at everyone’s barn and they are no exception!

Pushing 18H of adorable 🥰 Marshall is getting some support to heal up after some shenanigans in the pasture. Just when I think I’ve met the coolest horse, I meet another one. Marshall is totally my type… love me a giant stock horse with legs for days. But the next moment I’m falling in love with a spicy pony 🌶️ Oh the life I live!

Beautiful day at Unbridled Hope Equine Assisted Learning of Bayfield, Inc.! Today 7 horses were able to get sessions to be their best selves in the equine assisted learning program. I’m honored to work with the equines at this facility that in turn work with the kids that hold a special place in my heart. Vicki pours her heart and soul into making this barn a positive place to be with top notch care for her animals, her staff, and her clients. Special shout out to Bella for listening to me blabber for 7 hours while I fell in love with each horse all over again 🤣 She’s a rockstar who is all about animal welfare and is a wealth of knowledge and experiences. Enjoy a couple snaps below. Vanilla Lattes and a whole lotta love supported 10 equines today in total. Can’t beat the beautiful views up to Bayfield and across scenic byways on my way home. See you in two weeks!
