There’s something about the wrists. For many people, they tend to speak up quietly at first through tenderness, discomfort, or strain, especially in weight-bearing poses. From conversations I hear in the studio, this is more common than we often realize.

This morning, I came across an article from Yoga International written by Doug Keller that explores wrist care in a thoughtful, well-rounded way. It goes beyond simply stretching and looks at strength, alignment, mobility, and awareness, all essential pieces for supporting the wrists both on and off the mat.

If you’re experiencing pain or discomfort in your wrists during yoga, this article may feel reassuring and informative. It offers practical insight and gentle reminders that adapting your practice is not a step back, but a way of honoring your body and supporting long-term ease.

If wrists ever feel tender in class, know that options and modifications are always welcome. You’re encouraged to listen to your body and take care in the way that feels most supportive for you.

I came across this quote by Marcus Aurelius:

“The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts.”

As you move into this week, may your thoughts paint your inner world with stunning, nourishing colors.

And if you’ve been waiting in anticipation for livestream classes to begin, good news. They’re being added to the schedule and starting two weeks from today!

Wishing you a beautiful week, yogi. 🤍

Meet Luma, my golden pup. 💛

She’ll be having a minor surgery on Thursday, January 8th, to remove a small tumor from the top of her head. Because of this, there will be no classes held at the studio that day. Thank you so much for your understanding as I take the morning to support her.

And just like that, the last day of the year is beginning to make its exit. 2025 wrapping up with snow blanketing all it can touch, the air cool and crisp.

There is no requirement to summarize it, resolve it, or turn it into something other than what it is. Simply arriving here is enough.

You might take a few quiet moments to notice what this year asked of you, what it offered, and what you are ready to loosen your grip on. Not through force or judgment, but through gentle awareness.

If it feels supportive, allow a breath or two to mark this transition. Inhale to acknowledge what has been. Exhale to soften what no longer needs to be carried forward.

There is no rush to name intentions or make decisions today if it doesn’t feel right. Those can come later, when the body and heart are ready.

If you’re feeling called to explore this space more deeply, From Reflection to Intention will be held at the studio this Sunday, January 4th. We’ll gather for meditation, journaling, and tea, offering space to reflect, release, and gently shape what’s ahead in a supported, grounded way.

Whether you join us or simply pause on your own, may you step forward into 2026 with care and light.

Thank you for walking this Winter Threshold with us.🤍

Hey Friends!
Why Yin yoga? What is it?

Yin is different than our Slow & Stretchy class. Yin invites you to slow all the way down. Through longer-held, supported postures, we gently target the deeper layers of the body while giving the nervous system space to soften.

It’s a chance to pause, breathe, and reset from the inside out. Perfect for a midday moment of stillness that leaves you feeling grounded, spacious, and refreshed for the rest of your day.

Take a lunch break and join me tomorrow, Wednesday, for this pop- up midday reset! 🤍

Sometimes release doesn’t happen through effort or reflection, but through simple care for the space around us.

Today’s invitation is small. You might open a window. Clear a surface. Put a few things back where they belong. Let your hands move slowly, without rushing or trying to finish everything.

As the external space softens, notice what shifts internally. There’s often a quiet sense of ease that follows, without needing to name or force it.

This is not about decluttering your entire home or doing it “right.” It’s about creating just enough room to breathe.

If it feels supportive, let this gentle clearing be a way of honoring both your outer and inner spaces.

Nothing more is required. 🤍

As the year draws closer to its close, one gentle way to support release and clarity is simply to step outside. Nature has a way of holding us without asking anything in return.

This doesn’t need to look a certain way. It might be a quiet walk along your street, a few mindful breaths on the porch, or time moving through snow on a trail. It could be snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or simply standing still and noticing the air on your skin.

Let your pace be slow or playful. Let your senses guide you. Notice the crunch beneath your feet, the stillness in the trees, the quality of the light.

If it feels supportive, allow the movement to clear what feels heavy and make space for what wants to emerge. If not, simply being outside is enough.

There is no destination here. Just presence.

Grounded in nature. 🤍

As the season deepens, the body often craves warmth, steadiness, and care that feels simple and nourishing. Abhyanga, the practice of self-oil massage and one of my favorite rituals, is one gentle way to offer that care, especially when the nervous system feels tender or tired.

This is not about doing more. It is about tending to yourself with kindness.

You might warm a small amount of oil between your palms. Move slowly. Let your hands travel in a way that feels intuitive, offering steady, comforting touch.

As you move, see if you can bring in a tone of self-compassion. Not fixing. Not improving. Simply acknowledging yourself as you are, right here, with love.

If this practice calls to you, take a few moments or linger longer. If it doesn’t, that is just as okay. Let this be an invitation, not a requirement.

Warmth can be layered in small ways. A cozy room. Soft socks after. A blanket, a warm drink, or a few quiet breaths. Let the body feel held.

A simple ritual of warmth can be a powerful reminder that care does not have to be earned. 🤍

🎄 This Week at Lily & Sage 🎄

The holiday week has officially begun and our schedule is a little lighter to prove it!

Yesterday, I shared an email recapping the first week of our Winter Threshold Series. This series was created as a gentle reminder that slowing down does not always come easily. Believe me, I feel it too. This week, I’ll continue sharing simple, supportive practices to help ease this seasonal transition. Stay tuned for a few more offerings.

And as we begin to turn toward a new year, I invite you to join me for a New Year’s Meditation. Together, we’ll create space to reflect, release what feels complete, and intentionally step into what’s next with clarity and steadiness.

However you choose to move through this week, know you are always welcome here. ✌️🤍

Today marks the Winter Solstice, when daylight is at its shortest and darkness at its longest. A quiet turning point. From here, the light begins its slow return.

This day asks for very little. Maybe just enough movement to feel your body, and enough stillness to listen.

If it feels supportive, let your body move in a slow and unhurried way. Gentle, familiar shapes. A few breaths in each place. Let the rhythm be guided by the breath rather than the clock.

When movement feels complete, allow yourself to pause. Sit or rest. Place a hand on your heart or your belly. Notice the quiet that lives underneath the season.

On this day, you might simply reflect:
What is ready to rest?
What light feels ready to return?

There is no right way to honor this turning. Whether through movement, stillness, or quiet awareness, trust what this moment is asking of you.

Let this be an invitation, not a requirement. Take only what supports you. ✌️🤍
