✂️ Pre-Cutting Skills: When & How to Introduce Scissors ✂️

Before jumping into scissors, build those hand muscles and coordination first! 💪🖐️
Activities that practice the open–close motion help little hands get ready to cut safely and successfully:

🍪 Play dough – rolling, pinching, and squeezing
🧺 Tongs in a sensory bin – picking up and sorting items
🦆 Bath toys – squeeze and release fun
🌬️ Spray bottles – great for hand strength and control
💦 Water guns – playful practice for open/close motion

These fun, play-based activities strengthen hands, improve coordination, and set the foundation for successful scissor use later on!

Turn bath time into play-based learning! Using water and simple kitchen utensils, children can scoop, pour, stir, and squeeze while building hand strength and fine motor skills. Just one small change can make a big difference.
