After graduating chiropractic college in 2011, Dr. Blair ran a successful practice in Tuscaloosa, AL for 6 years before opening Southern Life Chiropractic in beautiful Spring Hill, TN. When he's not in the office he enjoys woodworking and spending time outdoors. Jill Baxter

Jill grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas and graduated from LeTournea University with her bachelors degree in Business Administration. One thing you will come to find out is that Jill is passionate about people, animals and life in general. When she's not in the office, she enjoys refinishing furniture and spending time with Blair and her "fur baby", a lovable Red Heeler named Chira. Kids need healthy spines too!

Kids today spend more time sitting, looking down at screens, carrying heavy backpacks, and participating in sports that put a lot of stress on their growing bodies.

All of that can affect how their spine moves and how their nervous system functions.

Wednesday Health Tip: "Adult Tummy Time"
Think "Tummy Time" is just for babies? Think again!
Most of us spend our days in a "C-Curve"—hunched over laptops, steering wheels, and phones. This can put up to 60 lbs of pressure on your neck! To counteract "Tech Neck," try 10 minutes of Adult Tummy Time daily.
How to do it:
Lie flat on your stomach on a firm surface (the floor is best).
Prop yourself up on your elbows (like a sphinx).
Keep your shoulders down and away from your ears.
Gently look forward.
The Benefit: This simple move reverses the forward slouch, opens up your chest, and strengthens the postural muscles in your mid-back.
If you find it difficult to get into this position due to pain or stiffness in your neck or back its time to get your spine checked.

Screen time isn't just about what kids see, it's about what it does to their growing bodies.

New research is linking excessive phone and tablet use in children to developmental concerns, from delayed motor skills to attention challenges. But there's another issue we're seeing in our office: "tech neck" and postural problems in kids in young children.

When children spend hours hunched over devices, their developing spines take the strain. Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, and neck pain are becoming increasingly common in younger patients leading to tight muscles, headaches, and early neck and back pain.

Small changes make a big difference:
- Encourage breaks every 20-30 minutes

- Teach kids to hold devices at eye level

- Prioritize active play and outdoor time

- Schedule regular spinal check-ups

You carry your kid on the same hip.
You sling your purse or bag over the same shoulder.
You cross the same leg.
You sit on the same wallet.

Every time you do that, you’re subtly tilting your pelvis and spine to one side.

At first, your body adapts. Then muscles tighten. Then joints stop moving well. Then pain shows up.
