๐ How to Make the Most of Your In-Home Visits: Personal Care
When a caregiver assists with personal care, itโs normal to feel a little vulnerable. The right approach can make the experience comfortable and empowering for both you and your caregiver:
๐ Communicate openly. Let your caregiver know your preferences, whether itโs how you like to bathe, dress, or groom. Small details make a big difference.
๐ Be specific about routines. If you have a preferred schedule for meals, medications, or hygiene, share it clearly. Written notes can be helpful.
๐ค Maintain dignity. Your caregiver is there to support you, not take over. Ask questions, give feedback, and share how they can make tasks easier while respecting your privacy.
๐ง Express comfort levels. If certain tasks or positions feel uncomfortable, speak up. Your caregiver can adjust techniques or provide equipment to help.
๐ก Stay engaged. Participating as much as you safely can promotes independence and keeps routines familiar.
