20 to 30% of muscle mass loss is natural to a caloric deficit diet, bariatric surgery, GLP-1 antagonist use. This is extraordinarily important to be mindful of with any fat loss journey.
Preserving your lean muscle mass is everything!! To safely and properly use a GLP-1 as a tool to heal the body, and repair metabolic dysfunction you have to eat a high protein diet to preserve your muscle mass. If your dose is so high that you have zero appetite, you're going to start losing your hair, your nails will be thin and brittle, the color in your skin will look poor, you'll look gaunt in the face, and lose your butt. The body is literally eating its own muscle mass so that it can survive. This is the stages of malnutrition.
If you're a middle-aged woman and older it's extremely hard to gain muscle mass back once you've lost it, it is very precious. Additionally, we need muscle mass on the body to help correct metabolic dysfunction and get your insulin sensitivity levels up.
**Any side effects that you're experiencing at all is your signal that your dose is too high for your body. Quit pushing your body beyond its limits and you will have a safe, healthy, effective fat loss journey while maintaining your health.
There is nothing inherently wrong with a GLP-1, the problem is the dosing schedule and people not being able to eat.
There are some doctors that are waking up to the problems with the dosing schedule and will tell you to stay at a dose that that's working for you as long as you're getting results and not having negative side effects. That's the called finding the sweet spot for YOUR body.
