We stand with Louisville.
The news from last night is heartbreaking. A cargo plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, resulting in loss of life, multiple injuries, and a large plume of smoke over parts of our city and region.
At Family Allergy & Asthma, headquartered here in Louisville and caring for children and families across the region, we extend our deepest condolences to the victims, their families, first responders, and everyone impacted by this tragic event.
In addition to the immediate devastation, we know events like this can temporarily affect air quality, which may worsen symptoms for people with asthma, allergies, or other respiratory conditions.

To our patients, families, providers, and community partners:
If you are in or near the impacted area, please consider the following guidance to protect your respiratory health.
🫁 If you have asthma or allergic airway disease
Avoid exposure to heavy smoke or soot. Stay indoors when dark smoke is visible.
Keep windows and doors closed, and consider using a HEPA air purifier if available.
Continue your maintenance asthma medications as prescribed; don’t skip doses because conditions seem “temporary.”
Keep your rescue inhaler nearby and review your asthma action plan.
If you experience increased wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention promptly.
Healthcare providers in the area are encouraged to check in with asthma/allergy patients who may be affected.

📍 For the community at large
Follow any shelter-in-place or air-quality advisories issued by first responders and public health officials.
Limit outdoor exposure while smoke or debris remains present. If you must be outdoors, wear a mask rated for smoke/particulates.
Avoid letting children or individuals with respiratory conditions spend time outside near visible smoke or debris.
