Terry Ray Westmoreland
May 5, 1954 - October 25, 2025
Terry Westmoreland, longtime resident of Cross County, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home in Farmington on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Terry graduated from Nathan Bedford Academy in Forrest City, Arkansas, in 1973, and later attended Arkansas State University, where he was a proud member of the TKE fraternity.
Terry’s life was defined by laughter, community spirit, faith, and an unwavering love for the Wynne Yellowjackets. A lifelong fan of high school football, he faithfully supported his favorite team as a devoted member of the Wynne Fumble Club. For more than 40 years, he served faithfully on the “Chain Gang,” never missing an opportunity to contribute to the game he loved. Known for his humor and flair, Terry made a tradition of wearing a tuxedo each year for the Homecoming game while working the chains—a gesture that brought smiles to everyone who saw him. It was only fitting that the final evening of his life was spent doing what he loved most: cheering on Wynne’s Homecoming game against the Paragould Rams.
Terry’s love for his community extended far beyond the football field. He was deeply civic-minded and took great joy in participating in the annual Hee Haw show, a local fundraiser supporting the American Cancer Society. Year after year, Terry stole the show as “Lovern,” captivating audiences with his quick wit, comic timing, and improvisational talent. He had a rare gift for making others laugh—and just as easily, for laughing at himself.
Terry’s faith was important to him. He grew up in a Christian family and wanted the same foundation for his own. He was a member of Wynne Presbyterian Church in Wynne, Arkansas, and after moving to Farmington, joined First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. His quiet faith guided his life, shaping the way he treated others—with kindness, humor, and humility.
Above all, Terry’s greatest joy came from his family. He was made to be a grandfather, and his grandchildren—Rose, Reeves, Renner, William, and James Josephine—were the lights of his life. He adored them completely, and the feeling was mutual. To his loved ones, Terry will be remembered for his humor, his compassion, and his generous spirit.
Terry Westmoreland leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, love, and faith—a legacy that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Flossie and Fred Westmoreland. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Josie Westmoreland; two sons, Wesley Westmoreland of Safety Harbor, Florida, and Wade Westmoreland and wife Rachel of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and his five beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Westmoreland (Peggy) of Brinkley, Arkansas, and his sister, Holly Todd (Michael) of Paragould, Arkansas, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
