❗️ CRISIS INTERVENTION STRATEGIES ❗️

1️⃣ De-Escalate with COMPASSION
The goal is to lower the "temperature" of the situation.

• Keep your distance: Respect their personal space to avoid making them feel cornered.
• Listen more, talk less: You don't have to "fix" the problem. Validating their pain with phrases like "I can hear how much you're hurting" is often enough to begin de-escalation.
• Ask directly: If you are worried about su***de, ask: "Are you thinking about ending your life?" It is a brave question that saves lives by bringing the struggle into the light.

2️⃣ Call for Backup: The 988 Lifeline
The 988 SU***DE & CRISIS HOTLINE is the most important tool in your kit. It is free, confidential, and available 24/7.

• You can call for them: If they are unable to speak, you can call 988 yourself. A trained counselor will coach you on how to support them in real-time.
• It’s more than a phone call: You can text 988 or use the online chat at 988lifeline.org.

3️⃣ Know Your RESOURCES
Save these specialized hotlines in your phone so you are always prepared:
