If the sourdough trend ever felt a little intimidating, this one’s for you. We’re sharing a simple artisan bread that’s easy, approachable, and made with everyday ingredients. Bonus: your house will smell amazing while it bakes.

Simple No-Knead Bread (4 Ingredients)
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon active dry yeast
1½ cups warm water

Instructions:
Mix
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt, and yeast. Add the warm water and mix until a shaggy dough forms. It will look messy & that’s okay.

Rest
Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 8–12 hours (or overnight). The dough will rise and bubble.

Preheat
Preheat your oven to 450°F. If you have a Dutch oven, place it in the oven to heat. If not, a regular oven-safe pot with a lid or a baking dish works too.

Bake
Carefully place the dough into the hot pot (no need to shape much). Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove the lid and bake for another 10–15 minutes, until golden brown.

Cool
Let the bread cool before slicing (if you can wait). Enjoy warm or toasted.

Our Story

Forastiere Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service Cares for the Greater Springfield communities. Since 1905 our family has been honored to help families during one of the most difficult times in their lives. It is important to us that we provide a comforting setting to help create a meaningful fitting tribute to honor your loved one. Some families prefer a grateful gathering to share their appreciation and celebrate their loved one’s life lived, while others prefer a private ceremony; all encompassing burial, cremation, or entombment preferences that may be simple or direct cremation or burials services. Whatever your preference we have the caring staff, the facility, and the options to meet each family’s needs.

Some people find it helpful to document their wishes or the wishes of their loved one in advance, prior to death, through planning those arrangements ahead of time. We can assist with explaining the variety pre-planning options, providing you and your family with the information, peace of mind, and time to consider all the choices and benefits. Please rely on us to provide continued care and assistance before, during and after your loss. Our caring team will guide you and your family to make healing decisions, being sensitive to your budget, in the way you would like to remember, show appreciation and pay tribute. Our Grief Specialist, Joanne Sullivan, is available to support you after your loss through our remembrance programs and bereavement support groups. Our caring staff at Forastiere Family Funeral & Cremation will provide the guidance and support when you need them most. We are available at our four convenient locations 24/7 in Springfield, East Longmeadow, Agawam, and Southwick, and the surrounding communites - we have been honored to serve Western Massachusetts since 1905.
