✨ A little real talk from the treatment room ✨
This week during a massage session, a client and I were talking about my career and how I approach what I do. We got on the topic of referrals—how not many people refer out to others in the same industry, but how I do (and would).
They asked me, “Aren’t you scared they might like the other person more and not return to you?”
And honestly? That’s a very valid question.
The real answer is yes… but also no.
Yes, of course there’s always that fear. But no, because at the end of the day I truly care about what’s best for my clients. If someone finds a therapist who fits their needs better, then that’s exactly where they should be. Does it suck to lose business? Absolutely. But this career isn’t just about money—it’s about the connections, the trust, and serving people to the best of my ability.
I want people to thrive. I want them to feel better. And sometimes that means I’m not the one delivering it—and that’s okay.
I don’t always refer out, but sometimes I do. Whether it’s because I’m fully booked, out of town, don’t work a certain day, or because someone comes to me with an issue that another therapist specializes in. No two massage therapists are the same. You won’t find another me (maybe close 😉), but not exactly—and that goes for every therapist out there.
So when this client left me a review today, it really hit home. It made me feel good—actually, it made me feel great. Because like many people, I doubt myself sometimes. I take slow books too hard (I’m a stresser). And even though I know I’m not a fit for everyone, that can still sting.
But then I get feedback like this, and it reminds me why I do what I do.
I love what I do. I love being able to provide a safe space—a place to relax, to talk, to rant, to laugh, and yes, even cry if needed. I love being able to bring relief, comfort, and help people feel “whole” again and out of pain.
And that right there? That’s everything. 💆🏽♀️💛
