Do doula’s replace dads?
Absolutely, not.
A father loves and know’s his wife in ways that a doula never could.
An educated doula knows birth, the system, and what women need during this incredible transition.
A doula takes that love and invaluable knowledge that the father has and guides him along the path of birth.
The ultimate goal of both father and doula is to support the woman throughout her perinatal journey so that she can show up to be the best mother possible to the new life. 🫶

📖🔍 I’ve been reading Ina May Gaskin’s book, Spiritual Midwifery this last month or so. One thing about her books that is very clear, she enjoys teaching through stories! We can learn lot from one another’s birth stories, which is why our Birth Circle is so special to me 🥰
Here are a few quotes that I’ve particularly resonated with so far!
Have you read this book? What were your thoughts?

Some big changes for our family lately 🫶

Back in November my heart was feeling really heavy. I was loving my midwifery journey and was so excited to keep going, but each birth and clinic day started coming with a lot of anxiety as our childcare options were dwindling. It was getting harder and harder to show up for births and clinic the way I wanted to, and the way the families I serve deserve.

I remember crying on the drive home from a special birth in November thinking about how stressful it had been just to make it there, and how my boys would probably need a few days to recover from the sudden shift in their routine…again.

After lots of prayer and acceptance, I told my husband and my beloved preceptors that I needed to take a big step back from birth work. I still have days where I am filled with sadness because this work truly fills my cup, and as a perfectionist I definitely wrestle with the “failure” feeling. But I’ve also seen so many blessings come from being home full time with my boys right now.

I have a couple of doula mamas left and then I’ll be off call for as long as my family needs. 🫶

And one more life update…

We’re pregnant 🤍 Another Eubanks boy will be joining us sometime this summer!

This pregnancy has been my hardest so far with nausea and migraines stubbornly hanging around. I’ve mostly figured out how to manage the nausea (very carefully chosen food choices) but the migraines still seem to have a mind of their own.

I am grateful for this sweet time in my life, being home with the boys is a huge blessing, although things are a bit different than what I had imagined. But I’ll still be here, posting tid bits here and there so I can stay in the loop with all of you powerful and inspiring mama’s 🫶

✨ one week out from the next Moms Night Out

Our special guest is Kelly Berryman from Village Hands, LLC 🤲🏽

Come learn from an expert in the field about all things postpartum care 👩🏽‍🍼
• momma and infant care
• safe baby wearing
• car seat safety check
• roles of a PP doula (assists with cooking, cleaning, laundry & more)
• building your village

If I had known this was a thing when my babies were born, I would have looked into this. Did you know that in most other countries, having built in help at home for momma and her newborn is not just encouraged, but standard? Here in the states, we are left to figure it out on our own.

Postpartum doulas DO exist here in central Illinois and they are here to help 🫶🏼. Utilizing one means that momma gets more time with her baby, which is how it should be for those first few weeks/months of life 🤍

Moms, dads, caregivers, doulas, midwives, healthcare professionals, friends & family you are all invited to attend this event next Thursday 11/20!

🕚: 6-7 pm
📍: 3450-B Liberty Dr., Springfield, IL inside M Fitness Health & Wellness

Please reach out with any questions or if you’d like to attend 🤗
