Mindful Monday theme: Regulate, Reflect, Reconnect 🖤
It’s okay if your only goal today is to regulate your nervous system.

Before productivity.
Before people-pleasing.
Before performance.

Try this 3-step reset:
• Unclench your jaw
• Drop your shoulders
• Take one slow breath in for 4, out for 6

You don’t need to “win” Monday.
You just need to begin gently.

Happy Lunar New Year 🧧🐎✨
Welcome to the Year of the Horse — a symbol of strength, freedom, and forward movement.

As you step into this new cycle, remember:
✨You don’t have to sprint.
✨You don’t have to prove your power.
✨You don’t have to carry everything alone.

Move at a pace that honors your nervous system.
Rest when needed.
Protect your peace.

May this year bring steady progress, emotional resilience, and the courage to care for your mental health as fiercely as you chase your goals. 🐎💛

Happy Monday!

Being kind right now can feel small in a world that feels heavy, loud, and full of anger. But kindness isn’t weak—and it isn’t naive. It’s intentional. It’s choosing softness when bitterness would be easier. It’s pausing before reacting, listening before judging, and remembering there’s a human behind every story we don’t fully understand. Kindness doesn’t mean ignoring harm or injustice—it means refusing to become hardened by it. In times like these, kindness is a quiet form of resistance. A reminder that we still get to choose how we show up. And sometimes, that choice matters more than we’ll ever know.

Winter blues are real.
Slower mornings, heavier moods, lower energy — none of this means you’re failing.
It means your nervous system is asking for gentler care.
Small warmth. Soft routines. Extra compassion.

Galentine’s Day reminder: supportive friendships are mental health care. The check-ins. The laughs. The “I’ve got you” energy.

Love doesn’t only look romantic — sometimes it looks like your friends holding you together. 🖤✨

Hey there! It’s been a while, so how about a reintroduction 🖤

My name is Brooke Snow! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor in the state of Ohio [and the owner of Enlightened Mind Counseling & Consultation, LLC].

I am so thankful for your follow and engagement in my posts! You are the reason I do what I do - and I absolutely LOVE what I do! While most clients find me in my happy corner of historic South Fountain Ave in Springfield, I am so much more than my quirky, woo-woo healing, coffee obsessed, self-care cheerleading self! When I am not meeting my clients on my amazing purple couch, I am:

✨ spending time with my husband and two kiddos
✨ chasing after my tiny, yappy, dogs or lazy cat
✨ snuggled in reading a book
✨ scrolling Pinterest for DIY coffee recipes

So once again, thank you for stopping in! I hope you find my content to be helpful; and if you are ever in need of a listening ear, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Start celebrating the "Month of Love" by utilizing assertive communication.

Our relationships thrive when we communicate openly and honestly. When we speak from a place of empathy, with consideration to how another person may feel from the conversation, we are more likely to be heard effectively. This type of vulnerability is tough and requires a lot of practice! So next time you find yourself in a place of conflict with a loved one, consider how you are speaking to them and ask yourself:

-Am I using clear phrases, or am I being vague?
-Am I welcoming their point of view, or am I being dismissive?
-Am I being truthful and in the moment, or am I using sarcasm?

What is one way you can commit to improving your communication strategies moving forward?

We are one week into the month of L-O-V-E! Before you start considering ways to express love to others, reflect on how you show love to yourself. Commit to loving yourself as a means to nurture your mind, body, and soul.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is get cozy and give your nervous system a break. If you find yourself feeling restless, or your thoughts racing. Consider trying the following:
✨Wrap up in something warm - tight like a burrito.
✨ Dim the lights and reduce noise levels
✨ Sip on fruit-infused water or herbal tea
✨ Close your eyes and place one hand over your heart and the other on your stomach while taking deep breaths.

What is your preferred midweek recharge?

The first step to setting yourself up for success in the day, comes from how you engage in your morning routine. If you find yourself lagging at the start of the day, consider the following:

⏰ No phone for 15 minutes: Avoid checking messages, emails, social media, etc immediately upon waking. This allows your brain and body to adjust without exposure to blue light or unnecessary information processing.
💧Water first: Before you reach for your morning jolt, drink a glass of water. Our bodies are dehydrated after sleeping and will perform better when we hydrate before caffeinate.
🧘‍♀️Move slowly: Stretch your body before you get out of bed. This will help your blood recirculate and will boost your focus.
🗓 Prepare for your day: Try to write down three goals or tasks that you want to prioritize for the day. This can be emotional or task driven.
🌞 Natural light: Get outside or near a window for at least minutes. Exposure to natural light helps lower cortisol levels and stimulates your brain to remain alert and focused. Doing this every couple hours through the day can help boost focus when you feel sluggish.

What is one of your favorite or preferred ways to get started in the day?

If you feel like things are "heavy" lately, you are not alone. As we prepare to embrace the Lunar New Year in February, we first need to acknowledge the final days of the Year of the Snake.

Consider the image of a snake shedding its skin. In the final stages, it is not pretty. It might even seem a little dramatic. We only notice what is happening because we actively see the process. The truth is, this process has been happening for a while - silently, though still uncomfortable.

That is why things feel heavy now - we are finally shedding the last bits of the previous year. 2025 felt weird for a reason, there was a lot happening and not a lot many of us could do in response. Very much like a snake shedding its skin, we were forced to just keep moving along. Now, we prepare for the Year of the Horse and all of the fast movement that will likely come with it. So now, maybe more than ever, is the perfect time to embrace slowness. Find grounding in the daily grind. Take breaks to enjoy and truly experience each moment. Make sure we are caring for ourselves in the way we need.

How will you spend the last weeks before the next Lunar New Year?
