Strength does not mean silent suffering.

Being kind right now can feel small in a world that feels heavy, loud, and full of anger. But kindness isn’t weak—and it isn’t naive. It’s intentional. It’s choosing softness when bitterness would be easier. It’s pausing before reacting, listening before judging, and remembering there’s a human behind every story we don’t fully understand. Kindness doesn’t mean ignoring harm or injustice—it means refusing to become hardened by it. In times like these, kindness is a quiet form of resistance. My name is Brooke Snow! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor in the state of Ohio [and the owner of Enlightened Mind Counseling & Consultation, LLC].

I am so thankful for your follow and engagement in my posts! You are the reason I do what I do - and I absolutely LOVE what I do! Start celebrating the "Month of Love" by utilizing assertive communication.

Our relationships thrive when we communicate openly and honestly. When we speak from a place of empathy, with consideration to how another person may feel from the conversation, we are more likely to be heard effectively. This type of vulnerability is tough and requires a lot of practice! So next time you find yourself in a place of conflict with a loved one, consider how you are speaking to them and ask yourself:

-Am I using clear phrases, or am I being vague?
-Am I welcoming their point of view, or am I being dismissive?
-Am I being truthful and in the moment, or am I using sarcasm?

What is one way you can commit to improving your communication strategies moving forward?
