Paving and Guardrail Replacement in Westmoreland-Walpole/Charlestown-Claremont

Traffic will be impacted through November.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will begin guardrail replacement and paving operations on NH Route 12 in the towns of Westmoreland and Walpole, and NH Route 11 & 12 in the towns of Charlestown and Claremont on Monday, April 8, 2026.

Weather permitting, work will be done between the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This pavement preservation project will pave approximately 19.1 miles of roadway and replace 45,000 Linear Feet (LF) of guardrail.

Message boards, flaggers, uniformed officers, and traffic control devices will be used as needed to direct the travelling public. Road Users should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs through the work zone. A 10-mph speed reduction during construction will also be implemented for road users' safety.

Last week we cut the ribbon on a room in our Charlestown Health Center that is now fully equipped with an electric Hoyer lift and adjustable bed. This is just the beginning of an organizational-wide initiative to make our facilities more accessible. Last year, North Star started a organizational-wide campaign seeking input from all staff to identify our 4 core values. One of those is community. It showed up in a BIG way yesterday.

THANK YOU to our community for showering our care providers with love (and 1500 carnations!) to celebrate National Doctors Day. We had a blast distributing these and seeing everyone's faces light up.

Also a big thank you to Woodbury Florist for partnering with us to make this wild idea a reality, to JC's Market & Deli for delivering a delicious breakfast for our entire staff, and to our staff and board volunteers who helped sort, wrap, and deliver these bouquets to all 63 recipients. This was a true community effort.

Our Springfield Health Center cafeteria has been taken over by 1500 red carnations!

On Monday, these blooms will be headed to all of our providers to celebrate Doctors Day!

This summer, we are partnering with Southern Vermont AHEC to hire a Communications Intern. The ideal candidate is a current college student who either attended high school in Vermont and/or attends a Vermont College/University. The internship is project based, and they will assist with preparing promotions and coordinating details around National Health Center Week events (August 2-8th).

The internship is PAID through AHEC and can be completed in a hybrid fashion, with in-office time required during health center week.

North Star Health is committed to expanding access to care for all patients through facility upgrades across our network. This is step one in a broader effort to improve accessibility at our locations, with guidance from advocates Dianne and Justin Milliken (pictured).
